Ilsan ramen restaurant, one bowl two flavors with spicy sauce: Gyedan

Today I'm sharing an honest review of Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch, a ramen restaurant in Ilsan's hot spot Bamlidan-gil. Rich broth, chewy noodles, and generous toppings~~ I'll go into detail below.

Where Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch is, and what the room feels like

Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch is on the 1st floor of 10 Yulcheon-ro 7beon-gil, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, in an alley of Bamlidan-gil. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with ground-level parking available, and a public parking lot nearby if it's full. Restrooms are separated by gender, and delivery, takeout, and group dining are all possible.

The vibe is clean and cozy, so it works well as a date spot too.

The clean exterior with a cute, charming vibe caught my eye. The interior felt comfortable, good for visiting with friends or a partner. Ordering is simple through the tablet installed at each table.

Gyedan Ramen: rich broth and generous toppings

We ordered Gyedan Ramen, motsu ramen, and tamago-bap (rice topped with egg and seasoned meat crumbles). The Gyedan Ramen apparently uses a broth simmered over 12 hours with pork bone, chicken feet, and various vegetables.

The moment I took a spoonful of broth, I could feel how rich and deep the flavor was. The noodles were chewy and springy too, pairing really well with the broth. With chashu, ajitama (seasoned soft-boiled egg), menma (seasoned bamboo shoots) and more piled on generously, there was fun in picking through the toppings.

Motsu ramen, the spicy bowl that clears your head

The motsu ramen is ramen with daechang (beef large intestine) in a spicy broth. The savory richness of the daechang matched really well with the broth's spiciness. I kept going back for spoonful after spoonful of broth. If you like daechang or spicy food, you have to try this one.

Tamago rice, the perfect partner to ramen

Tamago-bap is rice topped with thin sliced egg and seasoned crumbled meat. You can enjoy it even more by dipping it into the ramen broth, or dipping a spoonful topped with rice into the broth.

The portion is decently large, enough to share between two people. If you feel ramen alone is a bit lacking, be sure to order the tamago-bap too.

Parking and waiting tips to check before you go

Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch has fairly limited dedicated parking, so I'd recommend public transit. Bamlidan-gil's alleys make parking tricky in general, and if the lot is full, you can use the nearby Jeongbal-maeul public parking lot in Jeongbal-san-dong.

Since it's such a popular spot on Bamlidan-gil, waiting is basically a given during peak hours or on weekends. There's a CatchTable reservation kiosk at the entrance, and I reserved through the app before arriving. The estimated wait time shows up when you book, so you can time your reservation before you get there. If you're waiting on-site, browsing the cute little shops and cafés around Bamlidan-gil will make the time fly by.
