Newly opened Busan Station gukbap and milmyeon spot: Yeongdong
In short
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is a milmyeon and pork soup restaurant that recently opened right beside Busan Station in Dong-gu, Busan. The meal here was dwaeji gukbap (pork and rice soup), bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and a side of dumplings, served with three kinds of kimchi and a pot of hot broth for the noodles. Clean-tasting soup, chewy noodles and mild, savory dumplings make Yeongdong an easy meal before catching a train.

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, an old favorite near Busan Station for pork soup and milmyeon, just opened a new branch right next to the station itself! You can now eat the same great food in a much more comfortable space haha. Here's my lunch review from Busan Station.

Where is Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch, and when is it open?

If you're traveling in Busan, milmyeon and dwaeji gukbap are two dishes you have to try at least once. This time I visited the newly opened Busan Station branch of Yeongdong Milmyeon Dwaeji Gukbap!

How far is Yeongdong from Busan Station, and what is the restaurant like inside?
I have good memories of eating at the original Yeongdong Milmyeon location, so when I heard a new branch opened at Busan Station, I was curious. I happened to be at the station anyway, so I stopped by.
Best of all, being right inside Busan Station made it super accessible. It's a convenient spot to eat before boarding a train or right after arriving in Busan, and since it's newly opened, the interior was clean and pleasant overall.

There are tables as well as window seats that are great for solo dining, so if you're looking for a good spot to eat alone, this place works well.

What we ordered at Yeongdong and which side dishes come with it
I ordered dwaeji gukbap and bibim milmyeon.

As soon as I ordered, the side dishes were set out right away, and having three kinds of kimchi made it feel like a truly authentic gukbap restaurant, so exciting. They also give you hot broth to sip alongside the cold milmyeon, which is a nice touch.

There's a condiment station off to the side so you can season your food to taste.

How is the dwaeji gukbap broth and pork at Yeongdong?
The dwaeji gukbap came with a piping hot broth and a generous amount of pork. The broth had that deep, savory flavor typical of pork gukbap without feeling heavy or thick. Taking a warm spoonful of broth along with rice and meat made for a really satisfying meal.
The meat was tender rather than dry, so it went well with the broth, and mixing the rice in let the broth soak into it for an even heartier bite.

I always feel a bit let down when dwaeji gukbap broth has a strong gamey smell, but this one was clean and free of that, which I loved. Topping it with plenty of pepper and chives made the flavor richer without any off smell, so it was really clean 👍🏻👍🏻

Eating it with the really delicious kimchi made for the best kind of hot, comforting gukbap that hits the spot.

Are the dumplings worth adding to the bibim milmyeon?
I also ordered dumplings as a side. They're a great addition for when milmyeon or gukbap alone isn't quite enough — the dumpling skin wasn't too thick, and the filling of meat and stuffing was packed in nicely, so each bite was light yet savory.

Eating dumplings alongside the bibim milmyeon worked especially well, since the dumplings' mild flavor balanced out the spicy-tangy sauce. I personally really liked the bibim milmyeon plus dumpling combo. Adding dumplings gave more variety in texture and made the meal much more filling than milmyeon alone.

How do the bibim milmyeon noodles and sauce taste?
With naengmyeon I always go for the water version, but with milmyeon I always order bibim — the reason being the springy, chewy noodles tossed evenly in a spicy-tangy sauce really wake up your appetite.

The sauce wasn't just spicy — it was tangy and sweet with the heat coming through afterward, which kept me going back for more. Mixing the noodles thoroughly and taking a bite, you get both the savory depth of the sauce and the chewy texture that's unique to milmyeon — really tasty.

It has its own clean, refreshing appeal that's different from soup dishes, so alternating between it and the gukbap worked really well together. It's even better eaten with the thinly sliced meat topping 👍🏻👍🏻
Yeongdong's Busan Station branch vs the original, and who it suits
I had fond memories of the original location, so I had high expectations for the Busan Station branch, and sure enough it delivered. Being close to Busan Station makes it especially accessible, and being newly opened means the space is clean and comfortable.
If you're traveling in Busan and looking for somewhere to eat before boarding a train or right after arriving, this is a great spot to check out. You can have Busan's two signature dishes, milmyeon and dwaeji gukbap, in one sitting, and adding dumplings makes it a truly filling meal! If you've enjoyed Yeongdong Milmyeon at the original location like I have, give the new Busan Station branch a try too :)
