Tablet-ordered couple's lunch at Busan Station gukbap spot: Yeongdong

I had some business in Busan, so my husband and I went down together after a long while. We usually travel everywhere with our son Doyoon, so coming to Busan just the two of us felt oddly like going back to our dating days haha. Before running our errands, we decided to eat a solid lunch first.

Since we'd made it all the way to Busan, I felt like we had to have dwaeji gukbap (pork soup), so I searched for Busan Station restaurants and ended up at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch.

Being so close to the station meant we didn't have to navigate anywhere complicated. Inside the restaurant: atmosphere and seating

Walking into Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch, the bright, clean atmosphere caught my eye first. The tables weren't crammed too close together, so it seemed comfortable to eat here. Tables can also be pushed together, so it looked like it could easily handle small group gatherings with family or friends too.

They also have baby chairs and bibs on hand, and true to a restaurant near Busan Station, I saw plenty of solo diners as well as travelers with rolling suitcases.

Orders are placed via the tablet installed at each table! No need to flag down staff — you can take your time looking over the menu and order and pay right from your seat, which is convenient.

We ordered sundae gukbap, suyuk baekban, and mandu, and these were the basic side dishes that came out.

Sundae gukbap, 10,000 won — blood sausage plus pork

First up, the piping hot sundae gukbap. The soup wasn't just full of sundae (blood sausage) — it had pork in it too, so it was really hearty. The broth was rich without being too heavy or greasy, making it easy to eat.

I'd recommend tasting the broth on its own first, then gradually adding salted shrimp and the minced seasoning to adjust the flavor. The pork had no strong off-smell, and the sundae was the meat-stuffed kind — savory and really delicious.

Suyuk baekban, 13,000 won — boiled pork with a bowl of broth

Suyuk baekban comes with boiled pork, a bowl of rice, and warm dwaeji gukbap broth. If you want the soup but can't skip the tender boiled pork either, this is the menu that covers both.

The suyuk wasn't tough and was nice and tender, with almost no pork off-smell. Eaten plain it's mild, and dipped into the accompanying sauce it gets an extra savory kick.

A bite of suyuk followed by a warm spoonful of broth — perfect match~

Mandu (dumplings), 10 pieces for 7,000 won

The mandu we ordered as a side came out 10 pieces on a plate, so the portion was generous. The filling was packed in well and the wrapper wasn't too thick, making them easy to eat.

Snacking on them between spoonfuls of gukbap made the meal feel twice as filling.

Suyuk baekban you can even wrap into lettuce wraps — I love it, so delicious.
