On a weekday evening, my husband, kid and I came out to Seongsu and stopped by Bas Burger Seongsu for dinner. Seongsu has such a lively vibe even on weekdays around quitting time, it's fun just to walk around — but this time we decided to grab a good burger too. Picking a menu when you're eating out with a kid is surprisingly important, and burgers are a solid family choice since adults love them and they're easy to share with a child.

What we ordered at Bas Burger Seongsu: cheese bar, Hawaiian Burger and a set

We ordered a Chili Mozza Cheese Bar, a Hawaiian Burger, and a Bas Burger set. Since I usually like IPAs, instead of the regular set drink I paid extra to swap it for a Cheongjindong IPA beer. Coming all the way out to Seongsu on a weekday evening for good burgers and a beer felt like a great way to end the day.

There are so many great restaurants in Seongsu that it's hard to decide where to go, but since we had our kid with us, we looked for somewhere easy to eat rather than something too heavy. Bas Burger's menu is familiar and approachable, so it wasn't stressful to bring a kid along. A good choice for adults craving burgers along with a family wanting something relatively easy.

More than anything, just coming out to Seongsu on a weekday evening, eating well, and looking around the neighborhood was its own small pleasure.

How spicy is the Chili Mozza Cheese Bar?

We ordered the Chili Mozza Cheese Bar as a side, since burgers alone felt a bit lacking. It's a cheesy dish that paired well with the burgers — crispy texture plus savory cheese made it great for picking at between bites, and it'd be a good side to order multiples of and share if you're with a group. But if you can't handle spice, watch out. It's spicy!

Whenever I go to a burger place, fries are usually the first thing that comes to mind, so it was nice to try a different side for once.

Hawaiian Burger vs Bas Burger: ordering both and sharing

For burgers, we ordered the Hawaiian Burger and the Bas Burger. Getting two different ones to share let us compare the flavors, which was nice. Burgers really do taste best when you get all the ingredients in one bite — the patty, sauce, and veggies come together to make a filling meal.

We're both huge Hawaiian burger fans, so it seems like we always order it whenever we hit up a good burger place haha. When visiting as a family, it seems easiest for everyone to pick their own burger and share the sides together. Between the two burgers and the side, we were plenty full for dinner.

Why I swapped the set drink for a Cheongjindong IPA

One thing I personally want to note about this visit is the Cheongjindong IPA beer. Since I love IPAs, I paid extra to swap out the drink included in the set for a beer instead. Burgers and IPA really do go together well. After the rich, heavy flavor of the burger, a sip of IPA cleaned my palate right up — very satisfying, personally. If you're an IPA fan, I'd recommend swapping your set drink for beer too.

Since it was a weekday evening, having a light beer with the feel of wrapping up the day made it taste even better. We didn't have any special plans that day, but coming out to Seongsu with my husband and kid for a good dinner and a walk around turned out to be more refreshing than expected.

Why a weekday evening is the best time to visit Bas Burger Seongsu

On weekends Seongsu gets so crowded that it can feel a bit much, but on weekdays we could move around much more comfortably. Eating a good burger with my kid, plus a glass of my favorite IPA — it made for a pretty perfect evening. Family dinners often end up being Korean food or barbecue, but going for burgers every once in a while seems like a good change of pace too.
