Seoul Forest burger restaurant with a baby: Bas Burger Seongsu

Toddling along, toddling along ๑◕‿‿◕๑ our Seoul Forest dates with the baby are ongoing. Another footprint left at Seoul Forest today. We stopped by Bas Burger, a Seoul Forest favorite, had the double-patty Tamyok Burger, then took the Seoul Forest Han River bus back to Jamsil. Today was overflowing with romance.

Where is Bas Burger Seongsu, and what are its hours?

Bas Burger Seongsu is on the 1st floor at 9 Wangsimni-ro 4ga-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, open Mon–Fri 11:00–21:15 and Sat–Sun 11:00–20:45. Parking is available at a nearby paid lot, and this place has been the gold standard of handmade burgers since 2015. Babies welcome / no high chair / stroller access available.

Ugh... just imagining Bas Burger already floods me with deliciousness vibes. Bas Burger Seongsu, a Seoul Forest favorite, is less than a 5-minute walk from Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station, so it's super accessible. I've tried plenty of handmade burger places, but Bas Burger is one of the best.

Bas Burger has been going for 11 years since 2015, with several branches around. Everything here — burgers, craft beer, all kinds of fried sides — is delicious. A handmade burger spot that food bloggers approve of.

Outdoor tables that work for solo diners and for babies

Bas Burger, a Ttukseom Station favorite, gets a lot of solo diners, and there are outdoor tables too — perfect for burger feasting outside on a cool day. I grabbed an outdoor table with the baby and ordered. Each table has an order tablet.

The cheat code for surviving Bas Burger is the potato chips. The quality and taste are seriously good. Every famous place has a reason it's famous. First off, the founder is generous — really generous. And there are little details that win people over.

The chips have a slightly thick texture with a satisfying crunch. Even a 17-month-old could eat them, so that says it all. Actually, since our baby isn't quite at the burger-eating stage yet, I fed her lunch separately beforehand.

Bas Burger, a Seoul Forest favorite, is only a 3–4 minute walk from Seoul Forest, so it's easy to swing by whenever you're craving craft beer. Along the Seoul Forest alley there are lots of cafés and restaurants, but no proper handmade burger and craft beer spot — except here. Since Bas Burger specializes in handmade burgers, I highly recommend the real burger-and-craft-beer pairing.

How does the double-patty Tamyok Burger taste?

The Tamyok Burger is my absolute favorite menu item. I always go for double-patty burgers wherever I am, and Bas Burger's burger itself is so good it gets a genuine thumbs up. The sauce here is a cheat-code level of delicious. It's their special house sauce — a slightly spicy mayo-based sauce — with egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, two patties, and cheese. Personally I love a handmade burger loaded with hearty ingredients like this. That's why Bas Burger, a Seoul Forest favorite, moves me every single time.

Chili mozzarella cheese bar, 3,700 won

The chili mozza cheese bar is fried whole mozzarella coated in American-style chili sauce — an absolute marvel. The spiciness makes it even more addictive. As someone who loves craft beer, this kind of fried dish pairs so well. It's a dish you can only get at Bas Burger, so make sure to order it.

Special onion rings, 3,500 won

Onion rings are the side I always order at Bas Burger. If it's your first visit, definitely order these as a side. They use Japanese-style breadcrumb coating, so the crunch is insane. It tastes like a proper fried dish, almost like fancy kushikatsu-style frying. Don't expect ordinary onion rings — this is a different level.

Pairing the burger with Cheongjin-dong craft beer

The craft beer I paired with the burger was Cheongjin-dong beer — a dark-colored, bitter hoppy beer that's excellent. At 6.3% ABV, one glass is enough to lift your mood a bit. A notable thing about Bas Burger is that ales and pale ales pair far better here than a regular lager would.

A walk in Seoul Forest and a latte at The Coffee

After Bas Burger, we went to Seoul Forest for a walk with our baby.

After playing to her heart's content, the baby fell asleep, so we quickly stopped by Seoul Forest's the coffee for a latte. This place is always packed and I'd been curious about it — the taste was good, but the mug's temperature was a bit disappointing. Aww (I'm someone who likes drinking lattes piping hot). Still, the latte art was beautifully done, so I left feeling relaxed. Hehe.

Going home on the Han River bus from Seoul Forest

To get back to Jamsil, we took the Seoul Forest Han River bus. I'd always been curious about the Seoul Forest Station river bus route, and since the baby wanted to ride a boat too, mom made it happen today. After going all-in on burgers and beer, I carried the baby and hauled the stroller up and down stairs, working hard. But the bridge leading to the Seoul Forest Station dock was so beautiful it really moved me. Even as a lifelong Seoulite, Seoul always finds a way to move you.
