Budget-friendly Seongsu café with decaf americano and terrace: Mellows

The weather's finally turned a bit cool, and I got to visit Seongsu after quite a while. This was our first Seongsu outing as a family with my husband and Roha, so I was excited even before we set off. We wandered around Seongsu, did some baby clothes shopping, took our time, and then stopped by Mellows near Ttukseom Station for a bit of coffee and dessert. On days when the weather's this nice, just sitting at a café feels like its own little outing — and since Mellows has an outdoor terrace, we decided to grab a terrace seat instead of sitting inside, to enjoy the season while we rested.

Where is Mellows, and what are its hours?

Mellows sits near Exit 7 of Ttukseom Station, so it's easy to reach by public transit. It's about a 3-minute walk from the exit, making it a good stop while exploring Seongsu or Ttukseom. On weekdays it's open from 7 AM to 1 AM the next day, so there's a pretty generous window to visit. During the day you can enjoy coffee, ice cream, and desserts, and at night they also serve alcohol, so I imagine the vibe shifts depending on when you go. We visited in the afternoon after wandering around Seongsu for a while, and ordered coffee and ice cream.

We ordered two coffees and three kinds of ice cream. There were so many tempting ice cream flavors that we ended up ordering generously.

How the 2,500 won americano and café latte tasted

We ordered coffee along with our ice cream. Mellows specializes in ice cream, but they also have a solid coffee lineup, and best of all, the prices were really reasonable. The iced americano is ₩2,500, with a ₩300 surcharge for decaf. I ordered mine decaf, and it had a noticeable acidity to it. These days a lot of cafés charge around ₩5,000 for just one americano, so being able to get a coffee for under ₩3,000 was a nice, light option. The café latte was ₩3,200 and had a pleasant nutty flavor.

Both the americano and the latte were in the ₩2,000-3,000 range, so ordering coffee and dessert together still felt very affordable.

Sangha Farm milk ice cream: mango, strawberry and chocolate

What caught my eye the most at Mellows was, of course, the ice cream. Mellows uses fresh Sangha Farm milk to make its ice cream, and rather than tasting artificial, it leans into the natural flavor of milk, giving it a soft, clean taste. The ice cream itself is delicious, but you can also add different toppings like mango, strawberry, and chocolate, so it's easy to pick based on your taste. Best of all, considering how expensive café desserts have gotten these days, the ice cream in the ₩4,000 range didn't feel like a burden at all. It looks pretty too, with a generous, refreshing, sweet layer of toppings on top. If you're visiting with a group, ordering a variety and sharing seems like a great idea.

Why Mellows was a good rest stop on a Seongsu outing

Sitting quietly with coffee indoors is nice, but having a terrace where you can sit and feel the season fit the mood of our visit perfectly. In particular, the ice cream based on Sangha Farm milk had a soft, clean flavor that was great for dessert, and the generous portions at around ₩4,000 were satisfying. Getting to enjoy coffee and dessert while taking a little breather made Mellows a nice stop :)
