We went with beef brisket bibimbap + grilled soy sauce pork bowl + mini kimchi pancake :)

How did the three dishes at Horangi Gotgan taste?

1) Beef brisket bibimbap

Beef brisket bibimbap topped with brisket and vegetables

First up, one of the popular dishes — beef brisket bibimbap! It's loaded with beef brisket, plus lettuce, bean sprouts, kimchi, and other vegetables in generous portions. Right in the middle, a fried egg with a plump, runny yolk 🍳

Beef brisket bibimbap mixed with ssamjang sauce

You mix in the ssamjang (thick dipping sauce) and stir it all together — the savory richness of the meat combined with the crunch of the vegetables made for a great combo. Even our manager, who's usually a light eater, cleared the whole bowl haha! And it was surprisingly filling.

2) Grilled soy sauce pork bowl

Grilled soy sauce pork bowl topped with scrambled egg

As a soy sauce lover, this was my pick..! (I'm also obsessed with buckwheat soba, Bongchu jjimdak, and LA-style short ribs haha) It comes topped with soft scrambled egg, lettuce, and a generous amount of grilled soy sauce pork.

The sweet, salty, slightly spicy soy sauce seasoning combined with that distinct grilled char kept me reaching for more 🔥 The pieces of meat were nice and chunky, and the portion was generous too! I liked that it wasn't just a rice bowl padded out with rice — you actually get to eat plenty of meat.

3) Mini kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake)

Mini kimchi pancake fried into bite-sized pieces

And honestly, to my taste, this was the best one...! 🥹 Pan-fried small in bite-sized pieces, so the edges were crispy while the inside stayed moist — great texture.

Chive salad piled on top of the kimchi pancake

Piling the chive salad that came with it on top of the kimchi pancake made a perfect combo! Crispy kimchi pancake + tangy, spicy chive salad = an absolute match✨ This place really knows how to work with kimchi, haha.

Warm bone broth soup served alongside the meal

A warm bone broth soup also came with the meal, which was great to sip on between bites. A meal that was filling but still easy on the stomach :)

Verdict: is Horangi Gotgan good for a Gongdeok Station work lunch?

A full spread of rice, meat, and vegetables on the table

These days, eating out can get expensive fast even if you only order a couple of dishes...🥲 But grabbing something quick at a convenience store makes you start worrying about your health too. When I was younger, I felt fine eating anything, but now even for a single meal I want to properly get in meat and vegetables haha.
