There are plenty of group dinner spots near Dal-dong with lots of options, but it's hard to find one with both easy parking and great meat quality. Then I visited Daewol Charcoal Barbecue, which had only recently opened, and to cut to the chase — it's one of those rare Ulsan Dal-dong restaurants that nails parking, meat, and events all at once. I'd go back 100%.

Where is Daewol Charcoal Barbecue, and where do you park?

Daewol Charcoal Barbecue is a 1-minute walk from the main entrance of Good Morning Hospital in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, and you get 3 hours of free parking at the Truparking Ulsan Dal-dong lot, also just a 1-minute walk away. First impression: the big signboard and wide glass windows caught my eye right away.

It seems like a great spot for a nearby group dinner or just dinner after work. It even opens at 10am, so lunch is possible too!

Since you can get 3 hours of free parking at the Truparking Ulsan Dal-dong lot just a minute's walk away, it's really convenient to visit by car.

Honestly, the alley isn't that wide so parking can be a bit tricky, but having dedicated parking support made it so much easier, haha. Of course, you can also park right in front of the restaurant!

Inside Daewol Charcoal Barbecue: private rooms and restrooms

The inside of Daewol Charcoal Barbecue had an old-school vibe that was somehow quite hip. There are private rooms and outdoor seating too, so it seems like a good option for group reservations.

The restrooms are outside, with separate men's and women's rooms that were nice and clean.

Even though I visited on a weekday evening, it was packed. Customers kept coming in throughout our meal — I could tell right away this place was super popular even though it just opened, haha.

Menu and prices: raw galmaegisal and lunch galbitang

Black pork is the main event at Daewol Charcoal Barbecue, with a wide range from ogyeopsal (thick-cut pork belly) to pork neck, seasoned ribs, and raw galmaegisal. At lunch there's mountain-high bulgogi, doenjang stew, galbitang, and more — you can grill meat at lunch too.

We ordered the raw galmaegisal, and the basic side dishes were surprisingly varied.

They bring out wild garlic leaves and cold boiled pork to start, which is perfect for a drink before the meat even hits the grill. I thought the owner had really good taste, haha. FYI, the cold boiled pork is also available as a standalone menu item!!

How good is the meat? Jirye black pork from Gimcheon

Just looking at the meat, you could tell it was extremely fresh. Daewol apparently only serves Jirye black pork from Gimcheon. They bring it in directly from Gimcheon twice a week and don't use frozen meat at all.

Every table has basic amenities like hair ties and wet wipes, and there's a self-serve corner for side dishes too, so you can grab more whenever you want.

Spicy doenjang stew and the vegetable skewers on the base spread

Daewol Charcoal Barbecue has two types of doenjang stew: a regular ending stew, and the spicy version. I had the spicy doenjang stew, and the finish was refreshingly spicy in a way that just went straight down — it felt like curing a hangover right there at the table. Really satisfying.

They also give you vegetable skewers, which I'd seen mentioned in a ton of reviews. Once I grilled them and ate them with the meat, I totally got why so many reviews mentioned them, haha.

How the stamp card and events work

One thing that really stood out was that Daewol Charcoal Barbecue runs a loyalty stamp program. You get one stamp for every ₩30,000 spent, and those stamps can add up to a free serving of galmaegisal plus a bottle of alcohol!

They're also running a Naver receipt review event. There are various promotions going on, so definitely check them out!!

On the way out, they even had cold plum tea, disposable floss, and Febreze ready to go — a thoughtful touch that made the whole dinner feel complete, haha.
