In short
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is a Korean restaurant in Seogwipo, Jeju, near Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji. As the end of our Jeju trip drew near, I started feeling a little sad. It had actually been more than 20 years since my last family trip to Jeju.

I kept thinking, how had I only just come to such a wonderful place? There were so many delicious Korean restaurants nearby that I wanted to return to Jeju even more than after an overseas trip. 😉

We stayed near Seongsan, took a leisurely look around Seopjikoji, swam at Phoenix Jeju Island, and had fun at the kids' café. Before we knew it, we were hungry again.
It was only a five-minute drive from the hotel, so getting there was easy. Wanting a full meal of braised hairtail and pot rice at a restaurant near Seongsan Ilchulbong, we went to Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점).

How far is it from Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji?
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is about a seven-minute drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong, and about three minutes from Seopjikoji and Aqua Planet Jeju. It was also close enough to walk from our hotel, which was handy even without a rental car.
The address is 101 Sinyang-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, and you can park on the road in front of the building or in the lot behind it. It is open from morning to evening with no break time, so it was easy to fit into a sightseeing schedule.
Inside the restaurant
When we stepped in, it felt less like a crowded tourist-area restaurant and more like a quiet, tidy Korean restaurant. It was a good fit for families, with plenty of space between the tables. The yellow sign was eye-catching enough that you naturally notice it when passing by.

What comes with the A Set?
We love braised hairtail, so we ordered the A Set. It included braised hairtail, grilled tilefish, sticky pot rice, soy-marinated crab, and two seafood ttukbaegi (earthenware pots).

- A Set + soda
Because it was a set that filled the whole table, it was nice to taste several things we wanted to eat in Jeju all at once. You choose between sea urchin miyeokguk (seaweed soup) and seafood ttukbaegi, and we chose the seafood ttukbaegi.

How did everything taste, from braised hairtail to seafood ttukbaegi?
Braised hairtail
We started with the braised hairtail. Made with Jeju hairtail, the flesh was tender and the seasoning had soaked in deeply, so a spoonful with rice was just right. There were also large chunks of radish, making the broth rich; it was pleasantly spicy without being overpowering.

Grilled tilefish
The grilled tilefish arrived crisp on the outside and moist inside. Picking it apart with our hands left a lovely savory flavor. It had hardly any of the fishy taste people can worry about, so it was easy to enjoy. I was grateful for this grilled tilefish—it had our child finish a whole bowl of rice! 👍

Sticky pot rice and soy-marinated crab
The sticky pot rice arrived steaming, with nicely chewy grains. After finishing the rice, we added water to the scorched rice at the bottom and enjoyed its warm, nutty flavor. The soy-marinated crab was not overly salty and went well with the rice.

Seafood ttukbaegi
The seafood ttukbaegi was generously filled with blue crab, mussels, and shrimp, and each sip of the broth tasted wonderfully refreshing. Its soybean-paste base made it easy to drink without feeling too heavy.

How was it for a family meal at the end of our trip?
When you are craving a full meal of Seongsan braised hairtail and pot rice, it was a solid choice among restaurants near Seongsan Ilchulbong or Aqua Planet Jeju.

Filling up with a hearty meal at the end of our trip made the lingering disappointment fade a little. It was a Seongsan restaurant in Jeju that I would like to visit again next time I am in the area.
