Finding Katsu Kitchen in a Jeonpo alley

Katsu Kitchen in Jeonpo is tucked into an alley, but there is a sign at the entrance, so it was easier to find than I expected!

A cozy interior made up of bar seats
The interior had such a cozy, atmospheric feel that I loved the mood as soon as I walked in 🌿 Every seat is at the bar‼️ It would be lovely for a date or for couples, but it is also just right for anyone visiting alone for a quiet meal 👍🏻

What does the tonkatsu menu include?
There was a great variety on the menu! From classic loin and filet to cheese katsu and pizza katsu, there was plenty to choose from depending on your taste〰️ There were also lots of combinations, such as the mix menu where you can try both loin and filet, so it would be great for anyone who would hate to settle on just one thing 👏🏻
Yuzu dressing, black sesame dressing, sesame oil, and tonkatsu sauce were all neatly set out at the seat, so I could pair them however I liked 😊 They even had hair ties on one side! It is one of those things you quietly need while eating, so I loved that thoughtful touch too 👍🏻

There was everything from sauces to Himalayan salt, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), and wasabi 😚 Green-onion kimchi came with the meal too, and apparently the owner's mother makes it herself 🥢 It was seriously so delicious that I kept reaching for it 👍🏻 So, so good…! 😂
Rice and beef-and-radish soup also come with the tonkatsu 🍚 The soup had a clear, clean broth that went nicely with the cutlets. It was mild and light, so I happily finished the broth too 😊
Mix katsu with loin, filet, and cheese
Mix Katsu (2 loin pieces + 2 filet pieces + 2 cheese pieces)

I ordered the mix katsu! It let me try all three cutlets at once and enjoy what made each one special 👏🏻 Since it includes all three varieties, I heard it is their most generous signature menu!
Loin katsu taste
Loin Katsu

The loin katsu was full of juicy meat flavor and a lovely savory richness. Dipping it lightly in Himalayan salt brought out an even deeper, clean and nutty flavor, which was delicious ☺️ If you want that satisfyingly hearty, classic tonkatsu taste, I would recommend the loin katsu too!
Filet katsu taste
Filet Katsu

With the filet katsu, the crispy outside and tender, moist center were so appealing with every bite! Even though it is a lean cut, it was not dry at all, with a subtle juiciness that made it easy to enjoy lightly :)
Cheese katsu taste
Cheese Katsu

The cheese katsu had cheese stretching out as soon as I took a bite, and its rich, savory cheese flavor went so well with the crispy cutlet 👏🏻 From the look of the melted cheese while it was warm to the taste, it was thoroughly satisfying!
Mini chilled soba with tonkatsu
Mini Soba

I ordered chilled soba too! Even though it was the mini size, the portion was quite generous, which I loved 👏🏻 It had ice floating in it, so it was refreshing and cut through the slight richness of the tonkatsu perfectly—so delicious together!! The noodles were wonderfully springy too 🍜

How to enjoy it with wild garlic leaves and sesame oil
There is even a guide to the best way to eat it! I first tried it with the myeongi namul, and it paired surprisingly well—so tasty 👀👏🏻 Then I added a little sesame oil, which gave it a richer, deeper nutty flavor 😊 The sesame oil dispenser lets you add it neatly one drop at a time, so it was easy to control the amount too!

They even gave us vanilla ice cream for dessert 🍦 Ending with the sweet, cold ice cream made my palate feel so much fresher. From the tonkatsu and chilled soba to dessert, it was a happy meal right through to the end!

I loved that the atmosphere made me feel as if I were in Japan, and the tonkatsu was so clean-tasting and crispy, as though it had been fried in fresh oil!!
Along with the rice and beef-and-radish soup, the side dishes were generously prepared too, so I was very satisfied overall 👏🏻
If you are looking for a great tonkatsu spot in Jeonpo, I think Katsu Kitchen is the best! It is somewhere I would want to visit again next time I am in Jeonpo 😚
