Decaf iced americano & strawberry sando at Yeoksam café Roastery Stan

In short

Roastery Stan Yeoksam Main is a self-roasting coffee shop in Gangnam, Seoul, about 300m from Yeoksam Station Exit 3. After a filling lunch nearby, the writer took out a strawberry sando (fruit cream sandwich) and a decaf iced americano at Roastery Stan: the decaf tasted clean with a light acidity rather than dull, and the sando's cream was not overly sweet, so it vanished in seconds. Roastery Stan Yeoksam Main is an easy stop for dessert and caffeine-free coffee to go on an afternoon when coffee feels like too much.

Why stop at Roastery Stan Yeoksam Main even after a big lunch?

This is Roastery Stan Yeoksam Main (로스터리스탠 역삼본점), a café in Yeoksam-dong. On my way home after a lunch gathering in Yeoksam-dong, I suddenly remembered hearing about a café with a great fruit sando. I was totally full and went back and forth on whether to go, but when I searched it up, it turned out to be right around the corner..? Since I was already there, I figured I'd stop by for takeout. Usually when I'm full I skip buying anything, but somehow I always find the willpower to eat haha.

It's not far at all, about 300m from Yeoksam Station Exit 3. Since it's between Yeoksam and Gangnam stations, it's pretty easy to reach from anywhere.

You can spot the café sign from far away. [Coffee-yar] A pretty strong sign, not easily forgotten haha.

It opens early in the morning, so it's great for grabbing coffee and a sandwich on your way to work. There are so many cafés around Yeoksam-dong, but a place that actually roasts its own coffee seems rare.

There's also roasted sweet potato sold as a snack right outside the store, roasted in-house. I love sweet potato so much and the smell was wafting out — but I pulled myself together and just went in for coffee and a sandwich. This would be great for quickly curbing hunger when you're in a rush.

Inside Roastery Stan Yeoksam Main and its 4 house-roasted beans

The interior had a cozy, compact feel. There were about 3–4 tables, and the owner was working hard alone. The place seemed well known as a Coupang Eats delivery favorite.

Since they roast their own beans, you could choose from 4 different types of coffee. I love acidic, bright coffee so I really wanted the Deep Yellow, but it was a shame since caffeine is hard for me in the afternoon 🥲

Looking at the poster for the non-coffee drinks, they all seemed like they'd taste good too.

Ordering the strawberry sando and decaf iced americano to go

I'd already decided on the strawberry sando after seeing it in reviews. Disappointed I couldn't have the Deep Yellow, I ordered a decaf iced americano to go with it. It looked like they made the sando fresh to order rather than handing over one made in advance.

It got a little squished on the way home so I transferred it onto a plate — gotta eat pretty to feel good haha 😊

The decaf coffee's name sense, though :) I also liked that it was sealed with a can lid.

How the decaf iced americano at Roastery Stan tastes

Wow — the decaf is so good! I usually don't expect much from decaf coffee since it tends to taste flat. Roastery Stan's decaf wasn't bitter or dull at all, and it wasn't heavily roasted either — I could actually taste a light acidity.

How the strawberry sando tastes: cream, sweetness and fruit

The strawberry sando is insane. The whipped cream wasn't too sweet, so the sweetness was just right, and the pairing of the soft cream with the milk bread was speechless-level good.

Cross-section of the sando showing strawberries all the way inside

I was a little worried since strawberry season had passed, but the strawberries were delicious, and I was so happy there were strawberries even inside. I meant to just taste it but ended up scarfing the whole thing down without realizing 👍. The fluffy bread with strawberries and cream blending together so smoothly is the kind of taste you can't stop at one bite. Take a bite of the sando, a sip of the iced americano, and it just keeps going in.

Definitely a can't-fail combo. I wanted to try the fig one too — I wonder if it'll be gone by next time. Next time I'll head over early for a clean-looking sandwich and a Deep Yellow coffee!
