What was it like to have a date meal and conversation on Garosu-gil?

While looking for somewhere to eat on Garosu-gil, I visited Awesome Rose (어썸로즈). I care about whether I can talk comfortably with the person I am with, and I liked this place’s warm, cozy feel.

When I visited, it was neither overly noisy nor so quiet that it felt awkward. There were more seats than I expected, and I felt less pressure to worry about the people around me while eating. I thought it would also work for talking with someone I was meeting for the first time.

What are the basement access route and interior like?

The restaurant is in the basement, and the route downstairs had a slight slope. Inside, warm scenes played on a screen, and the interior felt cozy without being too dark.

The rose-shaped chairs stood out in particular. They suited the restaurant’s name, and rose-inspired details throughout gave me something to look at during the meal.

Is there a space for taking photos besides dining?

Inside was a space with the feel of an old camera, where I could print black-and-white photos. I thought it was fun that I could leave with a photo of the person I came with. If visiting with a partner, it seemed like a nice way to make a memory alongside the meal.

That day, I ordered Brown Bread, Rose Steak Deopbap (steak rice bowl), and Rose Caprese (Caprese salad).

What did I eat with the Brown Bread?

The Brown Bread arrived warm with balsamic sauce. Dipping the bread in the sauce added a tangy flavor that went well with it. It was good for a light bite before the meal or alongside the Caprese.

Was the Rose Steak Deopbap filling as a meal?

Given the price range, I did not have high expectations for the meat, but it was better than I expected. The meat was tasty, and it made for a filling meal with the rice. It felt reasonably priced to me, though I did not record the exact amount in the original post.

How is the Rose Caprese with bread?

I chose the Rose Caprese because I wanted something a little lighter. The amount of cheese and vegetables was more filling than I expected. I especially liked having the cheese and vegetables with the Brown Bread. If the Caprese alone feels a little lacking, it works well with the bread.

The balsamic sauce was also drizzled in the shape of a rose, which caught my eye. I found it fun that the rose motif from the chairs continued into the food presentation.

The dishes arrived separately. I was hungry, so I ate some bread first, then took an overhead photo of the full spread.

What stayed with me after the meal?

On the day I visited, I received a single artificial rose after the meal. It was a small gift, but it suited the restaurant’s rose-filled decor and sent me out in a good mood.

I remembered the easygoing atmosphere for conversation, the rose-shaped chairs, and the photo space. I felt it suited a day when I wanted to eat and talk, such as a first date or a date, and among the dishes I tried, I particularly liked the Rose Caprese and Brown Bread combination.
