Gangnam steak restaurant date with black-and-white photos: Awesome Rose

In short

Awesome Rose is a Western restaurant about an eight-minute walk from Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. I had the Korean beef rose steak and rose aglio e olio; the steak arrived at my requested doneness and the oil pasta stayed light. Warm lighting, fresh flowers, and a black-and-white photo booth made it well suited to a date or anniversary meal.

I visited Awesome Rose (어썸로즈), where you can have a meal and take photos in Garosu-gil. This time, I ordered the Korean beef rose steak and rose aglio e olio. Of the dishes I have had over several visits, the Korean beef rose steak has been a particular favorite.

How do you get there from Sinsa Station, and is parking available?

The restaurant is on B1 at 40 Apgujeong-ro 10-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is about an eight-minute walk from Sinsa Station; I found it in the alley behind the Garosu-gil Apple Store. The original post lists its hours as 11:00–22:00.

Valet parking is also available. Turn left into the Seven Eleven alley and continue for about 10 m; the black valet booth is on the left. According to the original post, valet parking was ₩4,000 for two hours.

The large rose decoration at the building entrance stood out. The stairway down to the basement also had a chandelier and rose-vine decorations, giving a sense of the restaurant's atmosphere before I went in.

Is the atmosphere suited to a date or anniversary?

The interior lighting was soft and warm without being too dark. After the rose-decorated entrance, the romantic interior made me think it would be nice for a date meal.

There were tables for two and four, as well as group seating for larger gatherings. Each table had fresh flowers, and the tableware and tables were neatly set.

There was a photo zone on one side of the restaurant, along with a photo booth where you could take black-and-white instant photos after the meal.

I could also see an open-kitchen teppanyaki cooking area. You could watch the meat and vegetables being grilled.

Can you bring a cake, a child, or a pet?

The amenities listed in the original post include bringing in an anniversary cake. You can light candles on it and eat it at the restaurant. High chairs are available, and pets are allowed too. On a previous visit, I even saw someone dining alone with a dog seated beside them.

How was the pasta ordered with the steak?

The dishes I chose this time were the Korean beef rose steak and rose aglio e olio.

Rose aglio e olio is an oil pasta topped with edible roses. It had plenty of plump shrimp and roasted garlic, with a subtle aroma of garlic and olive oil.

The oil sauce did not sit separately from the noodles and blended well with them. A slight spiciness and the pungency of garlic kept it from feeling rich, so I finished it feeling refreshed.

What were the price and doneness of the Korean beef rose steak?

The Korean beef rose steak is what I order whenever I come here. According to the original post, it was ₩39,000. After ordering, it was grilled on the griddle with vegetables.

We asked for medium-well, and it arrived at the doneness we wanted. The meat was tender, with the rich yet clean-tasting juices characteristic of Korean beef. When I had it, I felt it was satisfying for the price.

It came with grilled mushrooms, potatoes, eggplant, zucchini, and tomatoes. The vegetables tasted fresh and the portion was generous, making it enjoyable to alternate them with the meat.

What memory did I take home after the meal?

As I was paying and about to leave, the owner gave me a purple rose as a gift. It was a small gift at the end of the meal that stayed with me.

Before leaving, I also took a free black-and-white photo. I was glad to preserve the time I spent laughing and talking with my child in a picture.

For this meal, I was satisfied with the Korean beef steak cooked to my requested doneness and the clean-tasting oil pasta. With its warm lighting, fresh flowers, and post-meal photo opportunity, it was a place I would think of for a date or anniversary meal in Garosu-gil.
