Today I visited a place I really want to recommend — Migang Sikdang near Samjeon Station. The owner was so kind, and the quality of the meat was honestly moving 🥺 My partner and I both promised each other we'd come back!

I arrived at Migang Sikdang, a well-known Samjeon Station and Jamsil restaurant. Right at the entrance it says they're confident about their pork belly, and that turned out to be no exaggeration..🥺👍🏻👍🏻

Where to park? Free for 2 hours in the lot next door
You can see the entrance to Migang Sikdang's parking lot right next to the restaurant! It's beside the building, so it's easy to walk right past — worth checking before you go. There's room for up to 30 cars, so it's fairly spacious 😇 and parking is free for up to 2 hours!

I wanted to check the menu beforehand, so I looked it over in front of the restaurant, and I found out this Jamsil restaurant even makes donations 🫢 Knowing that a good place like Migang Sikdang gives back made me hope even more that it keeps doing well 🥺🤍

The lunch-time atmosphere
I visited during lunch and it was packed! That probably just means it's a good restaurant 🥺🥺 It was too crowded for me to get photos of the interior, but there were plenty of people eating not just the BBQ but also the separate lunch menu.

The 3-person set and the self-serve bar
We ordered the 3-person set with everything included — pork belly, jowl meat, pork neck, short galbi, and pork skin. First they bring out a variety of vegetables, and they were arranged so nicely that I was in a good mood even before the meal started 🥗💚

You can grab extra vegetables or wraps from the self-serve bar! And for those eating the lunch menu, you can even get rice and egg self-serve?! From the basic side dishes to the sauces, everything tasted so good — with a spread like this, no wonder the lunch menu is so popular 🫶🏻

Meat condition and the receipt with gram counts
First they show you all the ordered cuts — pork belly, jowl meat, pork neck, short galbi, pork skin — and along with it, a receipt with the gram weights printed right on it. Instant trust boost 😎 They show you the raw meat condition first, then go back into the kitchen to pre-grill it on the grill before bringing it back to the table.

And the side dishes that came with it were really unique ✨️ At most BBQ restaurants you get the usual onions and ssamjang, but at this Jamsil restaurant, Migang Sikdang, the sides tasted like something out of a proper cooking course, unlike anything I'd had before 👏 I wanted to buy them separately 🥲

Pre-grilled meat, brought out cut by cut
All the meat doesn't come out at once — it's pre-grilled and brought over separately by cut! First came the pre-grilled jowl meat, 3 servings. The owner has a background at the Hilton Atlanta and the Yeongdong Hotel in Sinsa-dong, and you could feel that care in every single side dish, not just the pork belly.

They also topped the grill with steamed egg, kimchi, and corn cheese on the side. The owner came back and forth so many times with all these different side dishes — it could have felt like a hassle, but instead the attention to detail really stood out 🥺 It was a great pairing with the meat.

Next came the pre-grilled pork belly, which was really delicious, maybe thanks to that char-grilled flavor. They topped it with the vegetables and green onion from earlier! Migang Sikdang, this Jamsil restaurant, has such great meat quality that I'd definitely want to bring friends or someone special here 🤭

Pork neck, short galbi, and steamed egg
Next they brought out the pork neck and short galbi. I hadn't had short galbi in a while, but with the owner's special sauce added, it was so tender and delicious. And the steamed egg was as soft as castella cake..! You never get that texture making it at home.. All these little details gave me full confidence I'd be coming back 🤣

Extra orders: jowl meat, naengmyeon, fried rice
After finishing the already generous 3-person set, I was sad it was over, so I added a portion of jowl meat. Having tried every cut, jowl meat was personally the softest and most delicious for me ✨️ I was really full, but I trusted the owner's cooking enough to believe the sides would be great too, so my partner and I ordered naengmyeon (cold noodles) and fried rice as well 🤣 If we hadn't ordered those sides, I think we would have regretted it.

And finally the pork skin came out. There was so much food that I'd honestly forgotten about it 🤣🤭 I'm not usually a fan of pork skin, but Migang Sikdang's was so tender?! I feel like I'll be back again soon ✨️ My husband and I both gave it a 10 out of 10, so if you're looking for a good Jamsil restaurant, definitely pay a visit ✨️
