Bob perm with nutrient care in Manchon-dong, Daegu: Momentium salon

Today I'm finally bringing you a review where my bob styling actually worked out ✂️✨ Bobs are seriously tricky to manage—the moment they grow out a little or the curl gets too much, it's a mess. With the weather heating up and life wearing me down, it felt like the right time for a mood-lifting style change. I'd kept the same bob for a while, but I'd neglected it so much that it was constantly frizzy and sticking out everywhere, making my morning blow-dry a real source of stress. I heard there was a salon around Manchon-dong in Suseong-gu that's really good at nailing bob styling, so I booked and went to check it out.

The moment I walked in, the sleek, tidy interior caught my eye. Everything was clean and well-kept, which built trust before the service even started. The overall vibe was modern and relaxing, so I felt like I was getting pampered the entire time.

Bob perm consultation and design cut at Momentium

At Momentium, I sat down with my designer for a 1:1 personalized consultation. When I mentioned I was worried the bob perm might end up puffy like a triangle kimbap (rice ball) or make me look older, she immediately understood. You know how a bob perm is more than half determined by the cut line, right? My designer carefully checked my head shape, face shape, and even my hair texture, walking me through a detailed 1:1 consultation. After I told her the length and curl feel I wanted, she skillfully trimmed a design cut first so that once the perm was in, it would fall into a perfectly pretty bob line.

Normally at a salon, lying down at the shampoo bed for a while leaves your neck feeling stiff, but at Momentium, the massage chair gives your whole body a cooling massage while you're lying there getting shampooed. Getting a refreshing full-body massage while my hair was being washed was such a nice touch.

Nutrient care, then the bob winding perm

After the cut, a generous nutrient treatment went in to prevent damage and bring out bouncy curl. My ends had gotten a bit dry from frequent flat-iron use, but with plenty of nourishment applied, my hair stayed moist and never felt stiff even while the perm solution was on.

After the nutrient care, she wound my bob with appropriately sized rods, and throughout the process she kept checking in to make sure nothing felt too hot or tight, so I could relax through the whole thing.

Ta-da! Here's the finished bob perm. I'd been worried about damage, but thanks to all that nutrient care beforehand, my hair wasn't dry at all—it was actually shiny!

Before vs. after the service. I got exactly the natural yet bouncy bob curl I wanted, and I'm so happy with it. In the morning, all I have to do is tousle it dry with my hands, so my styling time has dropped a lot too.
