The line at the dodook-jip was long again that day, so we ended up at the eye-catching Eulsam Hof beside it. This was already our third round and we were full, but we wanted somewhere to chat over a light drink, and that's how we found Eulsam Hof. As you can see on the standing sign, the drink lineup was fun: the beer's name changes depending on how much foam it has, which made me curious.

What's the atmosphere at Eulsam Hof like?

Eulsam Hof has a standing-bar feel with a retro touch, so it's easy to drop in without any pressure. It's comfortable for any age, and if you're after Euljiro draft beer, I think you'd like the retro vibe too.

The walls were covered in friendly-looking graffiti. It looked good for a light beer after work, or for a cold solo drink before heading home.

It feels a little cramped, but there's a charm in huddling together, and since this is Hipjiro (the trendy side of Euljiro), it seemed fine for mingling with a young crowd too.

There are only Red Rock and Cass on draft, so choosing was easy. Too many options can actually make it harder to decide, but with just two, even the indecisive can pick quickly.

We sat at the window, the prime spot for solo drinking, and ordered easily by QR code.

We'd already eaten cake and were full, so after some hesitation we ordered the potato. There's always room for drinks, but honestly, snacks on top of that felt like too much.

What kind of beer is Red Rock Toktok?

Red Rock Toktok is the draft beer the staff recommended, meant to be enjoyed when the foam has risen to its tastiest height. When we ordered, they told us it was at its best right now and to drink it fast.

I personally like Red Rock, so I was extra happy. The small glass is a bit tantalizing, in a frustrating way, but the soft foam and the fizzy kick had the charm you'd expect from a draft beer bar.

Eulsam Hof's potato snack: portion and seasoning

The potato came with crackers instead of chopsticks, and the portion was really easy to eat without any pressure.

The taste was fine but a little bland, which was a bit disappointing as a beer snack. Drinking food usually goes down better when it's salty and punchy.

Red Rock, with its reddish color, has a more bitter taste than ordinary beer, which I like. Maybe because it had been a while, it went down easily with that soft foam.

I think the best way to enjoy beer, and anything carbonated, is to drink it before the fizz is gone.

The second item at Eulsam Hof is Foam Foam, basically a beer filled with nothing but foam. Beer's smoothness really depends on how it's poured, and Foam Foam was ultra-smooth, the kind that makes you feel like floating.

Last, I ordered Red Rock Toktok again, of course, and my friend picked Lemon Hof. It's blended with fresh lemon for extra freshness, so even people who don't drink much can have it easily. But sip it at a draft beer bar and it's so tasty you might lose your mind, haha.

Eulsam Hof prices and overall verdict

Eulsam Hof is a little pricey for beer by the glass compared with an ordinary hof (Korean beer pub), but it was fine for stopping in for one or two light drinks. The Red Rock's signature bitterness and soft foam stayed with me. If you're looking for draft beer in Euljiro or just want a light glass, it's a good Euljiro bar to drop into.
