I went for a solo lunch at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch! It's great for group meals and just as comfortable for eating alone. It even seemed like a decent spot for a blind date near Kkachisan Station — the menu was well put together and the atmosphere was relaxed. Let me tell you about my salmon rice bowl at this Japanese restaurant!

The menu lineup was so varied I spent a while deciding what to get 😭 In the end I went for a hearty meal with a chewy, tender salmon rice bowl! What do you think~

It's known as a great-value rice bowl and ramen specialist, so it was comfortable for solo dining, and with such a varied menu it looked good for groups too! I'm thinking of coming back next time with my boyfriend for a date.

Second-floor window solo-dining zone, late weekday lunch atmosphere

Being on the second floor gave it a great view! There was a comfortable solo-dining zone looking out the window~~ Even though I visited during a late weekday lunch, there were quite a few people there!

Hekbap Kkachisan Branch also does delivery and takeout, so there were tons of delivery orders coming in!! With so many people around, I had high expectations for this place~~

The inside was really clean too! It looked like a nice spot for a blind date, and especially since the menu has options everyone from young to old would like, it was really hard to choose~~

Menu tour: spicy series, mazesoba, ramen, cold soba

If you love spicy food, I really recommend the spicy series — the buta don (pork rice bowl) and Western-style pork cutlet come with an addictive special spicy sauce!!

This place's signature dish is also mazesoba — springy noodles mixed with minced meat, special sauce, and vegetables, a savory noodle dish!! I heard people mix rice in after finishing the noodles!!

For ramen, there's karai ramen (spicy ramen) and tonkotsu ramen — and the noodle dishes are actually Hekbap's signature items!! Honestly makes you wonder if this is secretly a top-tier Japanese noodle spot~~!!

In hot summer, the zaru soba (cold soba) is popular too~~ At the table of ladies next to me, all four of them ordered soba, which made me so curious ㅠ_ㅠ but I wanted rice, so I went with the rice bowl~~~

Salmon rice bowl set — ₩18,900

The set comes with two pieces of fried chicken and mini udon~~! Just add ₩3,000 to the single dish to upgrade to the set! haha

Ta-da~~ can you see how glossy the salmon looks!! On top there's flying fish roe, pickled onion, and even an egg yolk!!!

I popped the yolk but didn't mix everything together — instead I scooped up rice and piled plenty of salmon on top~~!

On the side came chewy, delicious udon, two rice cakes for dessert as a side dish, plus two pieces of fried chicken haha

Just the rice bowl alone would be a bit plain, but with the sides you get a much more filling meal, so I recommend the set!! Just rice alone would leave you wanting more!!

Wasabi placed on the table next to the salmon rice bowl

There was also wasabi on the table, so I added plenty and made it like salmon sushi — the salmon was savory, chewy, and so soft it just melted in my mouth!!

Next time, noodles — a place for solo dining, groups, and dates alike

This was my first visit to Hekbap, a Kkachisan Station favorite that's also popular for delivery, and it exceeded my expectations, so I'm planning to come back with friends or for a date~~!

Hekbap is especially famous for its noodle dishes, so next time I'm going to try one of those!!

If you're looking for a Kkachisan Station favorite that's great for solo dining, offers both rice and noodle dishes, and works for a date course, group meal, or blind date around Kkachisan, Hekbap is a comfortable spot with a great atmosphere for your meal!
