Korean restaurant in Yangcheon: pork cutlet and udon at Haengbokhan
In short
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Sinjeongnegeori Station Branch is a Korean restaurant near Sinjeongnegeori Station in Yangcheon, Seoul. On my return visit, I ordered spicy udon, old-fashioned pork cutlet, and spicy pork rice bowl; the crisp cutlet and warming, peppery broth worked especially well together. The retro interior also felt comfortable.

I returned to Haengbokhan Udon Gage Sinjeongnegeori Station Branch (행복한우동가게 신정네거리역점) because I kept thinking about the udon and crisp pork cutlet I had last time. This time, I ordered gochu udon (spicy pepper udon), old-fashioned pork cutlet, and jeyuk deopbap (spicy pork rice bowl). I liked being able to choose pork cutlet and rice dishes alongside udon at an udon specialty restaurant.

Where is the restaurant, and who is it good for?
The restaurant is near Sinjeongnegeori Station, on the first floor at 257 Jungang-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Along with udon, it serves pork cutlet and rice bowls, so it was easy for family or friends to order according to their own preferences. At the time of my visit, it was introduced as a place where you could eat even late in the day.

Inside, the warm, retro-style interior immediately caught my eye. It still felt like a comfortable place to eat on my return visit. The setting suited warm udon and nostalgic old-fashioned pork cutlet, and I thought it would be comfortable for a quick solo meal or for sharing several dishes with family.

How was the spicy udon with pork cutlet?
I wanted to try several dishes together this time, so I ordered gochu udon, old-fashioned pork cutlet, and jeyuk deopbap. I had enjoyed them on my previous visit, so I chose them again with anticipation.

The gochu udon paired chewy noodles with a warm broth. With peppers added, it had a little more heat than regular udon, while the broth had a clean savory flavor. Having the warm broth alongside the crisp pork cutlet made the two dishes a good match.

How was the old-fashioned pork cutlet on my return visit?
I enjoyed the old-fashioned pork cutlet again, just as I had on my previous visit. The sauce went well with the crisp-fried cutlet, and it brought to mind nostalgic Korean-style Western pork cutlet. It also suited the retro interior.
I liked that I could have old-fashioned pork cutlet at an udon specialty restaurant. Ordering it with the gochu udon made for a satisfying meal, alternating between warm broth and crisp texture.

How was the spicy pork rice bowl when I wanted rice?
The jeyuk deopbap was a filling meal of spicy pork and rice. I liked having a rice option in addition to udon and pork cutlet. Ordering all three dishes made it fun to choose between them, and I thought they would also work well for several people to share.
