Seohae Korean restaurant for family pollock ribs: Hangsangcharim

In short

Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch is a braised pollock restaurant in Seohae, Incheon. We had the less-spicy sweet pumpkin pollock ribs for 2 at 42,000 won, with chewy fish, nicely sweet-spicy sauce, and generously spaced tables. Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch is a great pick for a hearty family meal.

Ever since I had steamed pollock in Yangpyeong, I’ve been craving braised pollock with that sweet-spicy sauce and chewy texture.. 🤤🤤🤤 Yangpyeong was way too far to go back to, so because I wanted to taste it properly again, I went with my family to the newly opened Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch (한상차림코다리명가 루원시티점) in Ruwon City~~

Getting there and parking in Ruwon City

It’s in the central shopping district of Ruwon City in Gajeong-dong, so it was really easy to find~~ It’s accessible by public transit, and the building has plenty of parking too, so bringing a car felt totally easy haha. The exterior already looked clean and upscale, making it the perfect atmosphere for bringing your parents or having a neat meal gathering 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️

It’s a 7-minute walk from Exit 6 of Gajeong (Ruwon City) Station on Incheon Subway Line 2. Come out of Exit 6 and walk straight for 445 m toward Bongo-daero, and it’s on the second floor of Hwabang Parking Tower! Parking is free, and it’s close to the station too, which was so nice 👍👍

Order for spicy sweet pumpkin pollock ribs

We ordered the spicy sweet pumpkin pollock ribs

Looking over the menu, there were lots of combinations besides the signature braised pollock, including braised pollock with siraegi (dried radish greens), spicy braised pollock and octopus, and assorted grilled fish~ We ordered the spicy sweet pumpkin pollock ribs for 2 (₩42,000) and bowls of rice 😁😁

Restaurant interior
Generous spacing between tables
Quiet dining area

The first thing that impressed me when I walked in was how clean and spacious it was~ There was truly plenty of space between the tables, so it was nice to eat while having a quiet conversation~~~

Complimentary side-dish spread
Roasted seaweed and bean sprout side dishes

Neat side dishes and a self-service bar

Every complimentary side dish was neat and clean. Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), salad, seasoned vegetable sides, kimchi, plus bean sprouts and roasted seaweed—which you can’t leave out with braised pollock—made the perfect combination 🤤🤤 None of the sides were overly seasoned, and they whetted the appetite, so we could start the meal happily even before the main dish arrived~

Using the self-service side-dish bar
Cleanly maintained self-service bar
Self-service bar with baby forks

You could freely get more side dishes from the self-service bar, which was super convenient haha. The bar was kept very clean too, which I loved~ And for reference, they even had baby forks haha

How the less-spicy pollock and pork ribs tasted

At last, the main braised pollock arrived, and the visuals alone were overwhelming. The large pieces of pollock were thoroughly coated in rich sauce, and just looking at them made my mouth water~ The staff removed the bones from the pollock so it was easy to eat haha. They also cut up the pork ribs into easy-to-eat pieces, which was great 👍👍👍

Less-spicy pollock sauce

When I pulled off a big piece and tasted it, the flesh wasn’t dry at all—it was wonderfully chewy haha. Above all, the sauce was excellent: it wasn’t just intensely spicy, but had the right amount of heat paired with a pleasantly sweet flavor, which I loved so, so much. You can adjust the spice level too, and I ordered the less-spicy version! They said even that is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun 🔥

Tip for enjoying it even more

  • Place a spoonful of hot rice on a sheet of roasted seaweed.
  • Add a large piece of pollock and some sauce.
  • Add crunchy bean sprouts and one Cheongyang chili pepper, wrap it up, and take a big bite—it’s perfection itself...

That is the most famous combination, but honestly, the sauce itself was so delicious that simply mixing the leftover sauce into rice was enough to finish a whole bowl in no time haha

They also sell braised-pollock meal kits~ I couldn’t buy one because I wasn’t heading straight home, but the price was so good that I’m planning to pick one up next time I visit haha

Free puffed rice snack to finish the meal

Finish with free ppongtwigi (puffed rice snack), and that’s a perfect meal complete~~ It’s a flavor everyone—young and old, men and women—can enjoy without much fuss, so I think it would be sooo nice when you want a filling meal. If you’re looking for somewhere for a family meal, I recommend it even more. It was a restaurant I definitely want to visit again 🍀 👍👍
