Meat-only hangover gukbap in Gangdong, Seoul: Boseung Hoegwan
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (rice-and-soup) restaurant on the main road by Exit 3 of Cheonho Station in Gangdong, Seoul. For a hangover lunch the writer ordered the sundae gukbap at 11,000 won with the meat-only option, leaving out the sundae (Korean blood sausage); the chili paste stayed in, so even the regular version tasted a little spicy. Hot and generous with broth, Boseung Hoegwan's bowl worked well as a hangover cure.

A 24-hour gukbap restaurant near Cheonho Station that's perfect for a hangover cure — Boseung Hoegwan.
How to find Boseung Hoegwan from Cheonho Station Exit 3

With a lingering hangover from drinking the night before, I needed a proper hangover cure, so I headed to Boseung Hoegwan near Cheonho Station. It's right on the main road, just a short walk from Exit 3 of Cheonho Station (Lines 5 and 8).
- Address: 654 Olympic-ro, 1st floor, Unit 1, Gangdong-gu, Seoul (429-2 Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul)
- Hours: Open 24 hours

Apparently it's a long-running, deeply rooted gukbap restaurant with a wide range of soups and drinking-friendly dishes. The place is fairly large, and there's even a waiting area by the entrance.
Inside Boseung Hoegwan: atmosphere and seating

The vibe differs by branch. At lunchtime, the Cheonho branch was almost entirely filled with male customers. Most tables are 4-tops, but there's also space for solo diners, and plenty of people were eating alone.

The restaurant has an L-shaped layout, and the seating tucked in back looks great for group gatherings. (There's a ground-level lot and mechanical parking behind the building, so parking is available if you drive.)

Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch menu and prices

They run a rice-table menu during the day and a drinking-table menu at night, keeping customers coming both times. I ordered the sundae gukbap, the very first item in the single-dish lineup.
- Meat only: ₩11,000
- Sundae pork jowl set: ₩16,000
- Rice-table menu: sundae gukbap ₩11,000 / suyuk gukbap ₩11,000 / bone hangover soup ₩11,000 / intestine gukbap ₩11,500 / badger-style gukbap ₩11,500 / pork jowl gukbap ₩13,000 (upgrade to large +₩2,000)
- Seasonal menu: cold noodles ₩9,000 / spicy mixed noodles ₩9,000 / pollack sashimi noodles ₩11,000
- Drinking-table menu: bone potato stew (medium) ₩32,000 / (large) ₩41,000 / sundae-gopchang hot pot (medium) ₩32,000 / (large) ₩41,000 / assorted boiled pork ₩34,000 / sundae head-meat platter ₩33,000 / sundae pork jowl platter ₩34,000

The basic side dishes are diced radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, chives, and salted shrimp. I visited at lunchtime, but it struck me again how great it is that they're open 24 hours — if you're lying in bed and suddenly craving gukbap, you can just head to Boseung Hoegwan near Cheonho Station.

Fresh onion and chili peppers, plus an apron, are on the staff-call menu on the table-order tablet, so I requested chili peppers and an apron.
Sundae gukbap, 11,000 won: the meat-only option

Sundae gukbap, ₩11,000. A piping-hot, bubbling bowl of sundae gukbap — going spicy costs +₩1,000, but since I didn't ask them to leave out the chili paste, even the regular version came out a bit spicy.

Hot and loaded with plenty of broth, it was perfect for curing a hangover. Gukbap is honestly something I could eat every day of the week, all year round. I love gukbap ♡♡

I got the sundae gukbap but chose the meat-only option, skipping the sundae!! ♡

The bowl of white rice was piled high too ♡ Mixed with chives and the hearty broth, it was a total hangover cure and so satisfying. That's the spot — hangover gone. That's the end of my sundae gukbap review at Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch.
