Goyang bakery closing-sale salt bread: Boulangerie Tan
In short
Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is a bakery on B1 of Hyundai Department Store KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi. I stopped by during the closing sale for salt bread and sun-dried tomato and jambon fromage sandwiches, all generously filled. Verdict: Definitely grab the three-salt-bread promotion if you love salt bread.

I set off last Wednesday to visit KINTEX Traders, only to find that Traders was closed... that kind of day. I told myself it was actually a good thing and headed over to Hyundai Department Store instead, haha. One reason it really was a good thing: it was time for the B1 food corners at Hyundai Department Store to start their closing sales, and B1 is also home to Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX—the amazing bakery I’d enjoyed just a few days earlier!!!
Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX: location and parking
As the name suggests, Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is inside Hyundai Department Store, on B1. Of course parking is available, and they apply a parking discount too~! The underground parking garage is actually pretty spacious, and the building is connected to Homeplus. It looks like the entrances are clearly divided into the department store and Homeplus sides, so just park on the Hyundai Department Store side and go in. I took the elevator straight down to B1.

Even on a weekday evening, a department store is still a department store..! There were quite a lot of people. Leaving all the tempting closing-sale goodies behind me, I made my way toward Boulangerie Tan. It isn’t huge, so take a slow look around and you’ll spot it.

Choosing bread during the closing sale
I don’t know what time the closing sale starts, but it was already underway! During the sale, you can buy the breads at a discounted percentage price. Even though it’s a closing sale, all the bread was baked that day~
There is one downside to going during the closing sale: so much bread has sold that there aren’t tons of varieties left ㅠㅠ...!!! As with every great bakery, people had already bought loads. But hey, that’s unavoidable when it’s a great bakery. The remaining breads still looked delicious though, haha.

They were also running a promotion: buy any three kinds of salt bread and get one gourmet butter salt bread free. If you love salt bread, don’t just walk past—make sure to get at least three and receive the extra one~!

Drinks and tables inside the store
Here’s the drinks menu. There was a surprisingly wide selection too! I’d already had a whole lot of coffee earlier in the day, so I passed on drinks. Next time, I want to come with more time to spare and have a cup of coffee alongside some bread! There were tables right behind the shop where you could sit and eat as well.

Ordering salt bread and two sandwiches
There are other signature items, but I already knew the salt bread was incredibly good, so I ordered mostly salt bread. And then a sun-dried tomato sandwich and a jambon fromage sandwich! I’d already tried the carrot rapé chicken sandwich, so I wanted to taste different sandwiches. I skipped the signatures and placed my order for other items instead.

The owner was so kind! The baguettes were sold out, so they made the sandwiches with salt bread instead, and said it would take a little time. But they came out faster than I expected! I think it took about five minutes. The packaging at Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX was so stylish too~~! It was the same packaging as the main branch in Unjeong.

Myeongran potato salt bread and generously filled sandwiches
Boulangerie Tan is always reliable... This is the myeongran (seasoned pollock roe) potato salt bread. It costs ₩4,000 each. Regular plain salt bread costs around ₩4,000 too, but Boulangerie Tan’s salt breads are packed full inside, so they felt like such an amazing deal.. And they’re so delicious...!! I’ve now tried almost every variety of Boulangerie Tan salt bread, and every single one is so good that I can’t rank them!

The sandwiches were stuffed so full too.. Even as I upload these photos, I’m thinking about how much I want to eat them again..! They were seriously that delicious, and I will absolutely be back. I wish they would open one in Seoul...!!! If you’re looking for a great bakery in Paju or Ilsan, I highly recommend Boulangerie Tan!
