Sinnonhyeon coffee shop for quiet weekend reading in a booth: Selecto

In short

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch 24 Auto Brew Cafe is a 24-hour bakery café right in front of Exit 1 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. With time to spare before a hair salon appointment, the writer sat alone at a partitioned one-person study seat and read through a weekend afternoon over a Geisha blend americano and a salmon sandwich. Even with the café full, the music stayed low, making Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon a genuinely good spot to read on your own.

Looking for a Sinnonhyeon café to read in alone

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch is a large café operating 24 hours right in front of Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 1. I'd just gotten my hair done in Sinnonhyeon and had a bit of time before my next plan, so I went looking for a quiet café to read in on my own. It's the kind of place you don't feel awkward going to alone, and best of all, it's a large café open around the clock. The seats looked comfortable and the tables well spaced, so Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon seemed like a great spot for reading or working.

Hours and location: 24 hours, self-service at night

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon's 24-hour Auto Brew Cafe is open around the clock, staffed from 10:00 to 21:00 and unstaffed the rest of the time. The address is 31 Gangnam-daero 79-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 1st floor.

The location is also great for access — you come out of Exit 1 of Sinnonhyeon Station (Line 9, Sinbundang Line) and it's right there. It runs 24 hours, staffed 10:00-21:00 and self-service the rest of the time. Seems like a good spot for freelancers or office workers who need to get some work done at night after getting off work.

Seating at Selecto Coffee, from sofas to one-person study seats

The interior of Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon is clean, with a variety of comfortable seating — sofa seats, two-tops, group tables — so it can accommodate large groups too. There are also separate one-person study seats, each with an outlet, so it seems like a good spot to come and study! There were a lot of customers on laptops. Just note that study seat use is limited to 2 hours.

Menu: coffee, sandwiches, bagels and snacks

The menu has a wide range: coffee, non-coffee drinks, desserts, sandwiches, bagels, snacks, and more. I got one americano and a sandwich for lunch. The salmon sandwich looked delicious. Perfect for a simple lunch.

There are window seats too, plus one or two outdoor tables. I went on a weekend afternoon and there were a lot of customers, but it was reasonably quiet and the music wasn't loud, so the atmosphere let me focus on my book.

Ooh, a Gangnam café where you can print too — nice. The clean white-and-orange interior gives off a bright, lively feel. A pleasant Sinnonhyeon café I really liked. Lots of fresh menu options too. Next time I'll try the salad. Though honestly, if you order a sandwich and skip the bread, it's basically a salad anyway... dieters will cry. I want bread.

Five americano beans to choose from, and today's Geisha blend

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon has five different americano bean options. Normally I'd go for the decaf or the mocha blend, but today I tried something different — the Geisha blend, said to be a coffee sent from the gods. Floral, plum, blackberry. On the heavier side for body.

There's also a good variety of snacks — bagel chips, chocolate chip cookies, hardtack — perfect for when you need a little something. The crunchy bagel chips were tempting, but I'm on a diet so I passed.

A weekend afternoon in the partitioned study seat

One study seat was open, so I sat there. There's an outlet on the wall and it's blocked off by a partition, perfect for staying quiet. I read my book and had a relaxing weekend afternoon for once.

The salmon sandwich, generous with smoked salmon

I also ate the salmon sandwich I'd ordered. Lots of vegetables in it. Plenty of smoked salmon too. Since I'm dieting, I only ate one half of the bread — for conscience's sake...

Why Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon works for a solo café visit

There were plenty of customers studying in Sinnonhyeon, and plenty chatting too. It's nice that this large Sinnonhyeon café has its own separate restroom and feels pleasant overall. Having so many sofa seats is another plus for Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon. They also sell sandwiches and salads, so it's a great spot for a simple lunch too.
