Mangwon coffee shop with window seats and bean choices: PICT Roastery

In short

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a house-roasting café on World Cup-ro 23-gil near Mangwon Market in Mapo, Seoul. The writer took a window seat with an iced americano, pistachio tiramisu and a caffe latte, and chose the coffee beans from a list of aroma and flavor notes at the counter. PICT Roastery is a calm spot built for slowing down rather than taking photos.

Mangwon-dong always has so much good food and so many pretty cafés that I can never decide where to go first. This time, while wandering around slowly, I was looking for a spot with both good coffee and proper dessert, and ended up at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch :) Since it's a roastery café that roasts its own beans in-house, I was pretty curious about the taste as someone who loves coffee.

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch: location, hours and parking

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch sits near Mangwon Market, so it wasn't hard to find. It's a good spot to fold into your route if you want a coffee after browsing the market, so it also seemed like a decent stop for a Mangwon-dong date course.

  • ⏰ Hours: Closed Mon, Tue / Wed–Fri 11:00–19:00 (last order 18:30) / Sat–Sun 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:30)

Inside PICT Roastery: the mood and the window seats

The first thing I noticed walking in was how calm and comfortable the whole place felt. Rather than the flashy interiors or photo-op spaces you see at a lot of cafés these days, this felt like a place made for sitting back and enjoying your coffee. It was decorated mostly in wood tones, which gave the space a warm feel, and I liked that there were seats along the window too.

Personally I love just staring out the window and zoning out at a café, and here, sitting by the window let me take in the Mangwon-dong alley atmosphere directly, which I really liked. It didn't feel awkward to sit alone with a coffee, and it also seemed like a good spot to quietly chat with a friend or take a break on a date. The space itself was compact but the seats weren't crammed together, and everything was neatly kept overall.

What we ordered: iced americano and pistachio tiramisu

What I ordered that day was an iced americano and pistachio tiramisu! I usually like pairing a dessert with my coffee, and this combination worked out better than expected, so I got to enjoy it at a nice leisurely pace.

Choosing your own coffee beans at PICT Roastery

What sets PICT Roastery apart from a regular café is that it's a proper roastery café where you can really enjoy coffee. Since they roast their own beans in-house, you can choose beans to match your taste when ordering coffee. Even for people who don't know much about beans, they had aroma and flavor descriptions ready so you could pick a style that suits you, which I thought was a fun touch.

What desserts does PICT Roastery have?

The dessert selection was also more varied than I expected. They had aged French toast, matcha Basque cheesecake, banana pudding, and the pistachio tiramisu I chose that day.

How does the pistachio tiramisu taste?

The cream on top looked soft even before I tried it, and once I did, I could taste the pistachio's nutty flavor coming through gently. The texture overall was soft and creamy, and it paired well with the nuttiness of the pistachio. Best of all, it wasn't just heavily sweet — the balance worked well when eaten together with coffee.

I'm usually the type who takes a few bites of an overly sweet dessert and then loses interest, but with this one, alternating with the americano kept me coming back for more haha.

Tiramisu paired with iced americano

The iced americano cut through the dessert's creaminess, so I was glad I ordered it alongside. Take a bite of the sweet, nutty tiramisu, then a sip of iced americano, and your palate feels clean again! If you're a fan of pistachio desserts, I think this is a menu worth trying at least once.

The caffe latte at PICT Roastery

The caffe latte was a comfortable menu item with a soft, nutty flavor. It felt like a nice match to enjoy alongside dessert! If you usually prefer a slightly softer coffee than americano, you'll probably enjoy the latte too.

Pairing PICT Roastery with a walk through Mangwon Market

What I liked most about spending time at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch was how comfortable the whole café felt. Rather than just taking photos in a pretty space and leaving, it was a place good for settling in with a coffee, chatting slowly, and enjoying dessert. Since it's close to Mangwon Market, it also seemed like a great fit for a day course — market browsing → café → a walk around Mangwon-dong.

If you're looking for a café in Mangwon-dong that isn't too noisy, or a place to enjoy good coffee and dessert together, put PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch on your list. That day I finished off the pistachio tiramisu properly and headed back out to explore Mangwon-dong haha. This is a place I'd quietly recommend to anyone looking for a café in Mangwon-dong 🤍
