Bongmyeong-dong izakaya in Cheongju with single skewers: Sutori
In short
Sutori Cheongju Bongmyeong Branch is a yakitori izakaya in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju, where skewers can be ordered one at a time instead of only as a set. Arriving as a second-round stop after dinner, we sat at the window bar seats and had shrimp chips as the free side dish with somaek (soju and beer), tomato, and beef tenderloin, skirt steak, knee cartilage and heart skewers served one by one like a course. Sutori is a rare yakitori bar for Bongmyeong-dong: you come in for one drink and leave having feasted.

What kind of bar is Sutori Cheongju Bongmyeong Branch?
Sutori is a yakitori izakaya on Deogam-ro 114beon-gil in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju. It's open 18:00–03:00 and closed on Tuesdays.
Sutori is a yakitori place you can enjoy simply in Bongmyeong-dong. It's a chain, but the store is clean and the menu is easy to order from, so it's one of my regular go-to bars! That night was supposed to be a light drink too, but I somehow ended up here for round two again... anyway, here's how it went — I ate well!
Sutori's exterior and the window-side bar seats
My Nth visit to Sutori. I've been coming here bit by bit for round two ever since it opened! It's a good spot for simple side dishes on a second round in Bongmyeong-dong, so I keep coming back.

Sutori! Compared to other branches, this store feels more spacious. The main feature is the outdoor-style seating — well, bar seats — which are great when you're in the mood for that outdoor-drinking vibe. It's not a fully outdoor setup, but you can sit facing each other along the window frame, which gives it a nice atmosphere.

Single skewers or sets: how Sutori's menu works
At Sutori you can order skewers individually, or pick a set of reliably good dishes — great for a hearty first round, but also good for a simple second-round drink. The menu is already well laid out on Naver and there's too much for the tablet to cover, so I'll skip it here! There's a wide variety, so take your time and choose.

A claw machine haul on the way to Sutori
Behold . . . . our rather pathetic? haul haha. We picked these up at a claw machine arcade on the way to round two after round one — they looked pretty lame when we were grabbing for them, but once we actually won them they turned out so cute! But if you're heading to Sutori in Bongmyeong-dong, don't go into the claw machine place... you'll waste money on things that stubbornly refuse to be won.

Snapped a proof shot while waiting for the menu. We really got a nice variety. Looking at it again, they're all so cute. The mini snack keyring is so cute. Even that dorky-looking doll is so cute.

The free side dish at Sutori: shrimp chips
Sutori's basic side dish was shrimp chips. Since I love these, it's such a great basic snack for me. Mixing up a cool soju-beer with the side dish. The beer was so, so refreshing!

The gift I worked hard to win for myself haha. Thanks, little guy. Butter ring is one of my favorite snacks, and you, curly-haired doll, giving me the choice of hair color — that's love. Anyway, while I was taking proof shots and waiting, the food came out in a flash.

Tomato and skewers served one by one like a course
Ta-da. I'd already had something rich and a bit heavy, so I ordered the tomato, and it came out refreshingly with cucumber, which I love — perfectly satisfying. I love tomato. Even better that it wasn't the sugared kind! It goes so well with the tangy dressing.

Beef tenderloin skewer first! I ordered one by one whatever I felt like, and it came out like an omakase course, one dish at a time — I love that. Great for when you're already getting full. I'd recommend this as a date course too. Perfectly portioned, and the menu selection is just right.

Skirt steak skewer, knee cartilage skewer. Not too heavy, just the right portion, good value for the price, and great for trying a variety of dishes! Try one of each, and order more of whatever's good.

The heart skewer, and skewers that just can't be bad. They give off a Japanese vibe, and they're all so cute and lovable.

One drink at Sutori turned into a full feast
I walked into Sutori in Bongmyeong-dong thinking I'd eat lightly since I was already full, and ended up feasting! It's a chain, but every branch is different, and I'd recommend this Bongmyeong branch! I definitely started out simple, but ended up ordering this and that, and this is where I landed.

This spot is perfect for claiming right now, in this September fall weather. Yakitori or izakaya bars are rare in Bongmyeong-dong, so if you're looking, give Sutori a visit!
