Hanok café with 3 parking options in Yangnim-dong, Gwangju: Hoyang
In short
Hoyang Horim is a hanok roastery café in Yangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, in the back alley behind Gwangju Christian Hospital at the foot of Horangkasinamu Hill. Parking is covered by three nearby options — the hospital, Yangnim Church, and the Yangnim History and Culture Village public lot — and the order at Hoyang Horim ran to a black sesame cream latte, hand-drip coffee, gotgamsando (dried persimmon sandwich cookie), and an injeolmi waffle, with the waffle the clear winner. Between the pomegranate tree in the courtyard and the floor seating, Hoyang Horim is a hanok café worth bringing a friend to.

I heard there was a café in Yangnim-dong with a great atmosphere and desserts that people of all ages would love, so I went to check it out. It's in the alley behind the Christian hospital, so it's easy to find — Hoyang Horim!! A roastery hanok café, which is rare to see in Gwangju!
They carefully select a variety of blended and single-origin beans and brew them by hand drip, so it feels like getting the VIP treatment!! If you're looking for somewhere to take friends visiting Gwangju, this place is a total recommend!!! Even locals recommend this café!! Shall we go take a look^^
Where do you park at Hoyang Horim?
Hoyang Horim supports parking at three locations, including partner lots. First is the Christian hospital parking lot (available weekends, holidays, and weekdays after 17:00). Both Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the hospital work! First hour is free, then ₩400 per 15 minutes after that!
Second is the Gwangju Yangnim Church parking lot (weekdays only). First hour free, then ₩500 per 10 minutes after. Third is a free lot — the Yangnim History and Culture Village public parking lot gives you 2 hours free! It's about an 8-minute walk from the café. This hanok roastery café sits at the intersection in the alley behind Gwangju Christian Hospital, right at the foot of Horangkasi Hill~ You'll find it in no time~

There's parking info in the photos too, so it's worth checking. Since it's an old alleyway, parking can be a bit tricky, but if you head toward the supported parking options, you can park easily and enjoy your visit^^

Hanok atmosphere and the courtyard pomegranate tree in Yangnim-dong
True to the Yangnim-dong hanok café vibe, the hanok atmosphere hits you right from the entrance~

There are seats in the courtyard too, perfect for drinking coffee outside in the cooling autumn breeze!

Now let's head inside the café~

There's a pomegranate tree in the courtyard, and it's genuinely majestic — it fits the café atmosphere so perfectly I was surprised!! It really feels like being at your grandmother's house!!

You can bring your pet along, but they've still put up a notice about manners~ A nice touch if you're bringing one along!!

Kiosk ordering, and desserts you can have gift-wrapped
Hoyang Horim lets you order smartly via kiosk. There's a variety of desserts and coffee, so let's go order right away!

I picked out all the good-looking stuff. The male owner was working alone that day so things came out a bit slow, but maybe that's exactly why he poured so much care into it — it was all so delicious and pretty, seriously!!!

Looks like a lot of desserts go out as gifts~ Even while I was there, some people were just picking up wrapped desserts to go! Highly recommend!! Chuseok is coming up soon, so totally recommend!!

There's also drip coffee packaged separately for gifting~

The self-serve bar and floor seating at Hoyang Horim
The self-serve bar has blankets, cushions, and water ready to grab, so you can get comfortable~

There's floor seating too, which really brings out the hanok vibe~!!

This is the entrance to the restroom. There's a full-length mirror there, and it's so stylish~

How do the black sesame cream latte and injeolmi waffle taste?
I ordered a black sesame cream latte, hand-drip coffee, gotgamsando (dried persimmon sando), and injeolmi waffle~ Even though I'd already eaten a full meal, it was so good! The waffle especially was the total kick!!! The black sesame cream latte wasn't too heavy either, perfect for enjoying that nutty flavor!!
They make their own desserts in-house — gaeseongjuak, injeolmi waffle, jar chestnut tiramisu, and other unusual traditional desserts reworked with a modern sensibility, served alongside the coffee~

A space where tradition and modernity blend naturally, where flavor, style, and ease all coexist — come to Hoyang Horim, the coffee spot of Yangnim-dong, to enjoy deep-flavored hand-drip coffee and special desserts~

Totally recommend the nutty black sesame latte^^
