Seogwipo café with green citrus juice after Hallasan: Forest Jeongbang

Today I want to introduce an ocean-view café in Seogwipo, Jeju! It wasn't far from where we were staying, and Jeongbang Falls and Cheonjiyeon Falls are nearby too. The café is huge and it's the perfect place to rest while looking at the sea through the windows, so I brought this post for you~

Parking at Forest Jeongbang and what is on each floor

Forest Jeongbang has parking right next to the café. On Jeju, whether you're going to a café or a restaurant, parking always matters — when we arrived the lot was nearly full, but the owner came out right away and directed us on where to park, so we got in easily.

For reference, Forest Jeongbang is split across two floors: the 1st floor has the ordering counter and indoor seating, and the 2nd floor has indoor seating plus a terrace. The 1st floor still has a sea view but feels a bit greener, while heading up to the 2nd floor gives you a wide-open ocean view. When we visited the sun was strong and it was a bit hot, so no one was sitting on the terrace, but I think the terrace seats will get more popular soon~

What to order after climbing Hallasan

Forest Jeongbang recommends one menu item per person. We were actually pretty wiped out that day from climbing Hallasan, so we went with drinks and cake instead. We chose an iced americano, Jeju cheonggyul (unripe citrus) juice, and Udo peanut cake.

There were also plenty of other Jeju-style menu items and desserts to choose from, which was nice. Besides cookies and sandwiches, they also sell candles you can stick into cakes, which seemed handy for anyone stopping by for a small celebration~

Garden view or sea view: where to sit at Forest Jeongbang

Above is the 1st floor view, below is the 2nd floor view. Personally, if you want to rest while looking at the sea, I recommend heading up to the 2nd floor at Forest Jeongbang; if you'd rather enjoy the greener scenery, I'd lean toward the 1st floor view~

We visited the 2nd floor that day, and there were a lot of people just relaxing comfortably, as well as some doing personal work. The view was that good — it was a place where you could stay and feel at ease~

How the Jeju cheonggyul (green tangerine) juice tastes

Here's what we ordered~ The iced americano had a clean, straightforward taste, and the fresh-pressed cheonggyul juice was less sweet than I expected and really delicious. It felt easy to drink without being too heavy. I thought it would be sour-sweet, but it was more smoothly sweet than sour~

When I come to Jeju, I find myself reaching for hallabong or cheonggyul juices that I normally wouldn't drink much — the flavor really does seem stronger and tastier here than on the mainland~

Is the Udo peanut cake worth it?

And then our winning pick — the Udo peanut cake! Jeju really is all about peanuts. The cake was so soft, and the nutty peanut flavor came through so well and blended together deliciously. I'd been feeling like I needed a sugar boost right about then, and it filled that need perfectly~

It's a cake with a deep yet smooth peanut flavor running through top and bottom, so if you love Udo peanuts, I'd recommend this dessert.
