The weather's been so nice and cool lately, I wish it could stay like this forever haha. A while back I had lunch with friends and then went to a café, and the good weather just made the mood even better.
This time the café we visited had collaborated with Fritz Hansen, so you could admire and actually use gorgeous Fritz Hansen furniture inside — plus every drink and dessert was tasty and pretty, which made it impossible not to fall for the place. Here's my coffee-time review from Lemangdoré, a dessert spot in Gwanghwamun.

Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is close to several subway stations — City Hall, Jonggak, Gwanghwamun, and Euljiro 1-ga are all nearby, so public transit is pretty convenient! If you're driving, there's about one spot beside the store, though it can be tricky to snag, so I'd recommend parking in a nearby public lot instead.
Exterior and the feel of each floor: all three floors are café
Lemangdoré, a Gwanghwamun dessert café favorite, is a standalone white-toned building with an eye-catching red heart sign. I'd also been to their Seorae Village branch before, so running into the cute heart again made me happy haha.
At Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun, the entire building from the 1st to 3rd floor operates as the café. The 1st floor had all sorts of goods on display, a spot to order, and some seating too. The counter's interior design especially caught my eye.
The 2nd floor is spacious with lots of 1-2 person seats, so there were quite a few people working solo on laptops. What I really liked was that the tables and chairs are all Fritz Hansen furniture, so you can sit and test them out before buying.
The 3rd floor was the highlight haha — a lush green view outside, plus a variety of tables, chairs and sofas that were fun just to look around at. After checking out all three floors, we settled on the 3rd.
What we ordered at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun and what it cost
Lemangdoré, the Gwanghwamun dessert café favorite, was packed with delicious-looking baked goods! We tried to focus on their signatures and ordered an ice cream float (₩8,500), white cream latte (₩7,000), crème de marron (₩7,000), chausson aux pommes (₩6,300), and pain au chocolat (₩6,200). We'd already eaten lunch, but so much looked tasty that we somehow ended up ordering a ton anyway — the magic of a good bakery.
How the crème de marron, white cream latte and chausson aux pommes tasted
For drinks we tried the iced float, white cream latte, and crème de marron — all three were sweet but also deeply flavorful, way tastier than expected haha. It wasn't just simple sweetness; there was a nutty, rich depth to each that paired really well with the pastries. Each one tasted quite different too, so ordering a few and sharing seemed like a great idea.
The chausson aux pommes had sweet apple filling inside a crisply baked pastry shell, so the gentle sweetness of the apple and the buttery bread flavor blended nicely. The pain au chocolat had a crackly pastry exterior with plenty of chocolate packed inside, so every bite gave both a crunchy texture and rich chocolate flavor — so good haha. The bread itself had great flavor, and eating it alongside the drinks made for a proper dessert time.
Verdict: why Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun works for a friends' meetup
Overall, Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun has a lovely atmosphere on its own, and being able to check out and actually sit on Fritz Hansen furniture made it fun just to browse haha. The space is spread generously across 1st to 3rd floors, each with a slightly different mood, so it seemed great whether you want to enjoy coffee alone or chat over dessert with friends.
If you're looking for a nice-atmosphere café around Gwanghwamun, City Hall, or Jonggak, this place is worth a stop. It's easy to get to and spacious enough for dates as well as café-hopping with friends — that was Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun for me. Next time I'd love to come back and try more of their bakery menu one by one!
