Signature cocktail at Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch
A cocktail glass under dim lighting

I'm Chu, a food explorer who runs anywhere there's good booze and a great vibe 💖 Remember the emotionally-charged hotspot in Dongmyeong-dong I introduced last month? I fell so hard for its hip atmosphere and delicious drinks that I couldn't resist going back! This is my revisit review of 'Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch,' which has now officially become my real hideout.

Last time I went hard with heavy hitters like Jose Cuervo and Hennessy, but this time I filled up on pretty, mood-lifting cocktails and refreshing snacks instead. Here's round two of my Yahwa exploration — let's get into it!

Where is Yahwa Honsulbar in Dongmyeong-dong, and what are the hours?

Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch is on the 1st floor of 45-10 Dongmyeong-ro, Dong-gu, Gwangju. It's open Sunday through Thursday from 20:00 to 03:00 the next day, and Friday–Saturday from 19:00 to 04:00 the next day.

It sits right at the entrance of Gwangju's Dongmyeong-dong hotspot alley! These days Dongmyeong-dong is easily the hippest neighborhood in Gwangju, isn't it? Especially lately, moody, emotionally-charged solo-drinking bars keep popping up all over its alleys — and among all those hotspots, Yahwa stands out with an unmatched atmosphere and energy.

Walking down the alley, the softly glowing 'Yahwa' sign catches your eye right away in the darkness. Out front stands a chic black standing sign painted with a hip cocktail glass, so you can't possibly get lost even on your first visit. From the sleek all-black exterior alone, you can already feel that trendy, secret-hideout mood pouring out.

It's in the perfect spot to duck into after happily strolling Dongmyeong-dong's hotspot street, which also makes it a fantastic choice for a date course or a second or third stop after a gathering.

Inside Yahwa Honsulbar: indirect lighting, a glass guestbook board and board games

The interior of Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch is dim overall, layered with warm yellow indirect lighting, and one side has a glass guestbook board written on with highlighters plus a huge stack of board games. Once you step through the door, a completely different, captivating world unfolds compared to outside! It's mood personified, honestly.

On one side is a transparent glass board full of character where you can freely leave a message with a highlighter, and underneath it, a mountain of board games ready to crank up the energy. It's a magical space where the luxurious, cozy charm of a bar coexists with the lively hipness of a hotspot.

The conversation never gets interrupted, and even drinking solo, you can add extra orders freely without feeling self-conscious — it was genuinely so smart and convenient 👍

What is on the menu at Yahwa Honsulbar, and how much does it cost?

At Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch, snacks start from the ₩5,000s and cocktails/highballs run in the low ₩10,000s. Beyond light, refreshing cocktails and highballs, there's a huge range of drinks — punchy tequila, elegant cognac, and heavy whiskey — so it's genuinely fun to pick according to your mood and taste that day.

Even with an atmosphere this classy, the overall price range is really reasonable and kind, so you can enjoy it without worrying about your wallet 💸

Signature cocktail Yahwa glowing under flashlight

Signature cocktail Yahwa, 18,000 won at 50 proof

The eye-catching signature cocktail, 'Yahwa' (₩18,000)! They shine a phone flashlight up from under the clear glass, and the way blue and red light blend into a mysterious gradient is genuinely insane. It's like they packed an entire galaxy into the glass. It's wild that a single phone flashlight can transform the mood this dreamily — an instant Instagram-storming, life-shot generator.

Oh, and just a heads-up: it's 50 proof! Don't let the sweet, pretty look fool you into sipping it too casually — you could go down fast, so be careful not to fall too deep into Yahwa's charms!

Blue cocktail Star-Falling Night
Cocktail topped with edible flowers and gold flecks

Star-Falling Night, 14,000 won at 16.5%

'Star-Falling Night' (₩14,000) — even the name sounds romantic! On top of a deep, mysterious blue sea, bright purple edible flowers and shimmering gold flecks are sprinkled softly on top, making it the ultimate in classy presentation. At 16.5%, it's just right for enjoying with mood and good spirits!

Pineapple sherbet served in a pineapple shell

The snack to order: pineapple sherbet in a pineapple shell

You absolutely cannot skip the perfect flavor of the 'pineapple sherbet' served alongside the sweet cocktails! It comes in a real, whole frozen pineapple shell packed full of sherbet. The moment you scoop up a big spoonful and pop it in your mouth, a brain-freezingly refreshing, sweet-tart burst explodes across your tongue!

The softly melting ice crystals wash away the bitter alcohol notes of the cocktails perfectly, so when you need a palate cleanser mid-drink, there's really nothing better. It's the perfect sweet-and-tangy balance that makes you want to keep drinking endlessly — I scraped the shell clean to the bottom.

Is Yahwa Honsulbar worth a second visit?

After the heavy whiskey mood of my first visit, this second trip to Dongmyeong-dong's 'Yahwa Honsulbar Gwangju Dongmyeong branch' revealed a whole different charm through pretty, flashy cocktails! The overall dim, moody interior combined with the radiant cocktail visuals lighting up the table kept my eyes captivated the entire time.

Above all, despite the 'solo-drinking bar' label, the lively energy of the crowd and the mountain of tension-boosting board games meant there was never a dull moment — just constant laughter through a fun night! Add the smart QR ordering system you can tap right from your seat and prices kind enough to spare your wallet, and it was genuinely a perfect night at my real hideout.

If you need some emotional, solo comfort in Dongmyeong-dong someday, or want to raise the tension with deep, fun conversation with friends or a partner, don't hesitate — I 200% strongly recommend knocking on Yahwa's door! I'm already planning to head back soon to work through the rest of the cocktail menu.
