Songdo café for a catch-up over Basque cheesecake: Standard Square
In short
Standard Square is a dessert café in a shopping complex on Keonbensia-daero in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. The writer went to Standard Square for a second round of catching up with an old friend and ordered the plain Basque cheesecake (8,500 won), a matcha einspänner (6,800 won) and a tropical iced tea (7,000 won). The dense cheesecake and the rich matcha einspänner were the highlights. With its roomy space and cool blue interior, Standard Square is a Songdo dessert café worth recommending for long conversations or a date.

It had been so long since I'd seen my friend that we had a ton to talk about, so we moved on to a second round. We were looking for a café that's good for chatting, and my friend had been before to Standard Square, which is famous as a Songdo dessert spot, so that's where we went.
Standard Square location, opening hours and parking
Standard Square (스탠다드 스퀘어) is at 50 Keonbensia-daero, Building 101, Units 101-102, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea, and it's open every day from 09:00 to 22:00. Parking is reportedly available for 3 hours when you use the shopping complex.
What are Standard Square's exterior and interior like?

Standard Square is in the shopping complex along Keonbensia-daero in Songdo, so it wasn't hard to find. Even from outside, the café looks pretty big.

At first the inside didn't look very spacious, but it turns out the space is divided into sections,

and if you head to the side, there's another seating area. The two spaces are decorated differently, so moving over feels like a fresh change of scenery. I loved that, haha

A guestbook notebook and a vote for the most popular cookie
On one side, next to the water dispenser, there was a notebook where you can leave a guestbook note. I didn't write anything, but little touches like this are nice when you're on a date, haha

Next to it was a cookie popularity vote, which was fun to look at.

Near the entrance they also sell merchandise, coffee beans and coffee. You can tell they're serious about coffee.
Corner tables along the wall
We sat in a corner seat.

Interestingly, the table is attached to the wall, which made it feel really cozy 🤭
What did we order at Standard Square?
At Standard Square we ordered the plain Basque cheesecake (₩8,500), the matcha einspänner (₩6,800; matcha latte topped with cream) and the tropical iced tea (₩7,000). The strawberry scoop cake I'd originally had my eye on is a winter menu item, so it wasn't available.

The showcase was filled with a variety of desserts,

and the menu board was easy to read at a glance. I was going to try the strawberry scoop cake, but they said strawberry is a winter menu so it's gone. So sad 😢 I picked other desserts instead.

When your order is ready, the staff bring it to your table. A lot of places these days give you a buzzer and make you pick it up yourself, so being served at the table was convenient and nice.

We were chatting away, and before we knew it the drinks and desserts were ready.
How does the plain Basque cheesecake taste?
The plain Basque cheesecake at Standard Square was dense and rich. The moment I pushed in my fork, I could feel its weight in my fingertips.

It was as dense and rich as I'd hoped, and honestly so good. It's served cold, with a slightly crunchy, icy texture in the middle, like it's just before freezing, and I loved that even more. My friend had enjoyed it on a previous visit, which is why we came, and now I get why it's famous as a Songdo dessert spot 🤤
How rich is the matcha einspänner?
The matcha einspänner (₩6,800) at Standard Square looks rich, and you can really taste the nutty creaminess of the cream and milk.

My friend loves matcha, so she picked the matcha einspänner. Doesn't it look strong even at a glance? The cream on top was rich, and the milk's nuttiness came through well. The characteristic nutty flavor of matcha went nicely with the coffee. Next time I visit, I'll have to try the matcha einspänner too 🤭
Tropical iced tea and the atmosphere at the time of the visit
The tropical iced tea (₩7,000) was really pretty in color, just like its name. A cold iced tea in summer is always satisfying. It's refreshing and sweet, like drinking tropical fruit!
I visited Standard Square on a Friday between 2 and 3 p.m., and customers kept coming in even then. It seems like a Songdo dessert spot that already draws a lot of people.
Verdict: who should visit Standard Square in Songdo?
Standard Square has a wide variety of desserts and tasty drinks, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good dessert café in Songdo. The cool blue-toned interior suits summer well, and it was a satisfying spot for a date too.
