On the first stop of my healing trip to the East Sea in Gangwon, I stopped in Yangyang for a hearty meat meal 🌊✨

Since this was the cheerful start of a trip to see the East Sea, I wanted a proper local Yangyang spot the locals actually eat at — so I picked Yeoyejeong, which has a reputation as one of Yangyang's best meat restaurants 🍖🔥

Parking at Yeoyejeong in Yangyang: can you get there without a car?

Yeoyejeong has a large private lot right in front of the restaurant, free of charge, so if you drive there's zero parking stress. But the location is a bit tucked away for public transit, so coming without a car is a little tough!

Whether you're hunting for a good spot in downtown Yangyang or near Yangyang Market, or heading toward Sol Beach or Naksansa Temple, this is a great stop on the first day of your itinerary.

Inside Yeoyejeong: dining room, doodle corner and baby chairs

Walking in, I immediately felt how spacious and clean the dining hall was ✨ Looking around, I noticed plenty of baby chairs, which explained why so many families were dining there!

Since Yangyang is such a well-known travel destination, there's a corner set aside where travelers can draw pictures and stick them up as a keepsake 🎨📝 The wall was covered with drawings and notes lovingly left by travelers and kids — just looking at it gave off a warm, nostalgic travel feeling.

And in the middle of the restaurant they were running a Naver receipt review event!

Among the prizes for joining the review event were the 'mallangi' squishy toys kids love these days, displayed right where your eyes land haha 👍 If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend joining in (honestly, adults love mallangi even more...)

On the wall, the country-of-origin labeling board was displayed large and clear, so I could eat with peace of mind!

Yeoyejeong menu prices, hours and lunch order cutoff times

The menu was posted big on the wall and also printed cutely on each table, giving the place a charming, homey touch 📋 The adorable menu board put me in a good mood even before ordering, haha

Hours run from 11:30 to 21:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 in between — keep that in mind when you plan your visit!

For lunch visits, note that meat orders close at 13:30, while the good-value lunch special runs until 14:00, so if you're coming for a lunch spot you can eat affordably 💡

Plus, soju is ₩4,000 and beer is ₩4,500, making it great for pairing a drink with dinner on the first night of a trip 🍻

Marinated ribs, 250g for 18,000 won: how was the meat?

If I had to pick Yeoyejeong's biggest strength, it's that despite today's prices, they're not expensive, yet the meat quality is genuinely excellent! The marinated ribs (yangnyeom galbi) come at 250g for ₩18,000 with a generous portion, and the pork belly is 200g for ₩15,000 — both honest, fair prices.

We ordered the marinated ribs, and while grilling them over charcoal, I could tell just from cutting them with scissors how tender the meat was 🥩✨

Taking a bite of the golden-brown marinated ribs, the juices were moist and there was zero chewiness — the meat quality that chewed softly in my mouth was hugely satisfying 🤤 The marinade wasn't overly sweet or sharp either, seeping in subtly so I never got tired of it and kept eating more!

Wrapping a big lettuce bite with green onion salad and garlic on top made the start of my East Sea trip in Gangwon feel really hearty ㅠㅠ

White kimchi noodles fell flat: order the bomb steamed egg instead

The 'white kimchi noodles' (baekkimchi guksu) I ordered as a side turned out to be an honest dish of thin noodles just dunked in plain white kimchi broth, rather than a tangy-sweet noodle sauce — a bit lacking in character, I'll admit 😅

Looking around while eating, I noticed lots of tables digging into the ₩5,000 'bomb egg steam' (polttan gyeranjjim), overflowing out of its earthenware pot! It looked so delicious that next time I revisit, I'm definitely ordering that as my side 🥚✨

Is Yeoyejeong worth it for a family dinner in Yangyang?

Public transit access is a bit of a downside, but with its spacious private parking, clean interior, a nostalgic travel touch, and meat quality that far outshines its fair price, Yeoyejeong is a solid Yangyang meat restaurant!
