Gangnam gyukatsu restaurant with a butter grill: Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch is a gyukatsu restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, one minute on foot from Sinnonhyeon Station. I visited at weekday lunch opening and grilled the ₩32,000 jumbo gyukatsu on a mini brazier with butter. For crispy striploin gyukatsu in a jumbo size, Ichigyu is the place.

This Gangnam gyukatsu spot is just a one-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station 💖

It’s on the second floor, so it was easier to find by looking for this sign, haha.
There’s a tablet right in front of the restaurant for joining the waitlist through Catchtable. (It must get quite a wait on weekends…!) I came right when they opened for weekday lunch, so there were plenty of empty seats at first, but it gradually filled up. As expected of a Gangnam favorite, Ichigyu~~

The interior was spacious, with seating for two through four people. I really loved that every table was neatly set up, making it easy to have a quick meal.

Menu and QR ordering
There were so many dishes that looked soooo good even in the photos that I had a serious case of decision paralysis…😳

⭐️ Receipt review event ⭐️ Write a review and you can try one piece of fried shrimp too 🍤

You can order from the menu by QR code, so it was nice to sit down and order comfortably 👍🏻

Jumbo gyukatsu and a mini brazier
Jumbo gyukatsu ₩32,000. There were lots of reviews saying the regular order would leave you wanting more, so I was like, just how good can it be?!! and ordered the jumbo size, hahaha.
They lit the mini brazier and served the rice in a beautiful bowl. The fluffy grains looked so delicious even before I started eating 🫢 You can get a rice refill if you need more!

[Jumbo Gyukatsu] Gyukatsu made with flavorful striploin, served with Ichigyu’s special Itami sauce, known for its full garlic aroma and tangy flavor.
Striploin has a substantial yet clean texture and is considered one of the most balanced cuts of beef. Its distinct beefy aroma is especially rich among grilling cuts, it tends to have the broadest appeal, and it is neither tough nor overly tender—just the right texture and meatiness, which is why it is often used for steak~🐂🥩

As soon as it arrived, the crispy breading and fresh striploin looked so delicious~!

Gyukatsu with just the right amount of marbling—glossy and full of moisture ✨
The standard spread served with the gyukatsu 🐰 Cabbage salad, miso soup, gyukatsu sauce, salt, chili sauce, wasabi, cabbage kimchi, and butter.
Butter the grill first, then cook two or three pieces at a time
The mini brazier was stronger than I expected, so it was best to put on two or three pieces at a time and turn them all the way around. (I forgot to add the butter first and they stuck to it,,, hehe.) The marbling is no joke~
Can you see how nicely golden they got~?!! Whenever the flame on the mini brazier weakened, the staff revived it so quickly, as if they had an alarm set, hahaha. Absolutely the best 👍🏻🫢 They were so, so kind.

Definitely butter the grill first before cooking 🫶🏻 That sizzling sound alone was sooo appetizing. The buttery aroma rises up—so that’s why they give you butter!! The meat gets coated in butter and turns glossier, so you can enjoy it even more tenderly.
