₩33,000 dinner set at Glory Works, a Sangdong Chinese restaurant

In short

Glory Works is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of Sigma Tower near Sangdong Station in Bucheon, close to Save Zone. At dinner the two-jjajang plus garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) set costs 33,000 won, and even as a set the tangsuyuk portion was generous, while each bowl of jjajangmyeon came topped with a runny fried egg. The noodles stayed chewy instead of turning soggy, making Glory Works a place worth returning to for the jjamppong.

Hi, it's Yapyap! I had a reason to visit Bucheon and while I was mulling over dinner options, I found a promising spot near Sangdong Station. Decided on Chinese food for dinner and went for it haha. This is the kind of place you visit once and know you'll be back — let me introduce Glory Works.

What's on the menu at Glory Works

Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) / seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) / shrimp fried rice, meat jjamppong / egg-yolk jjamppong / Glory jjamppong, garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) / yurin-gi / kkanpunggi, chili shrimp / cream shrimp / kkanpung shrimp. The variety of jjamppong types, jjajangmyeon, fried rice, and especially the garlic tangsuyuk among the cooked dishes caught my eye the most.

Inside the restaurant and how to order

The place has a clean vibe with several table seats, making it a great spot for families, friends, or couples. We got seated and ordered via tablet. If you do a Naver receipt review, you also get a free condensed-milk flower bread as a service item. Since there was a set menu, it had been a while since we did one jjajang each — so we ordered jjajang2 + garlic tangsuyuk.

As a basic setting they brought out pickled radish and jjajangmyeon's classic side, jjachai, and there was chili flakes, soy sauce, and vinegar on the table.

You can also grab extra basic side dishes and rice from the self-serve bar, so you can eat even more heartily.

The two-jjajang and garlic tangsuyuk set, 33,000 won

Jjajang2 + garlic tangsuyuk set for ₩33,000. The rich jjajang aroma and the garlic tangsuyuk sauce had me practically drooling haha.

How was the garlic tangsuyuk?

Even though this garlic tangsuyuk was part of a set, the portion was quite generous. It came with sauce on the side so you could dip each piece (jjik-meok style).

The batter was crisp and clean, exactly my preferred style — you could feel the crunchiness just by looking at it.

The garlic sauce had a tangy note plus garlic aroma like a ketchup-based tangsuyuk sauce, but a bit thinner in consistency — genuinely addictive.

Under the thin batter was a proper thick cut of pork loin, and the texture of the loin itself had a nice softness — crispy outside, tender inside.

Cut into bite-sized pieces and dipped generously in sauce, it's crispy outside and you just get sucked in by the sauce flavor hahaha.

Jjajangmyeon topped with a runny fried egg

The jjajangmyeon came with a soft fried egg on top for a nice visual. If you push the egg aside and mix the noodles well,

you get this deep jjajang color. Eating in-store, jjajangmyeon can easily go soggy if you're not careful, but the noodles at Glory Works had a satisfying chewy, springy texture. It made me even more curious about the jjamppong while eating — I'll have to try that next time haha.

Topping it with a fried egg on top of everything is such great value, isn't it? Breaking the soft yolk and mixing it with the noodles goes really well together haha. The jjajang here sits somewhere between regular jjajang and ganjjajang (dark soy-braised black bean sauce), so fans of ganjjajang would like this too.

Is the Glory Works dinner set worth it?

Partway through I sprinkled on some chili flakes, and I could really taste plenty of onion and meat in every bite — so good. They say they prepare everything each morning with fresh, direct-from-source ingredients, and you could really feel that while eating. It was a meal full of care, and I cleaned both the jjajang and the tangsuyuk bowls, which felt satisfying. I'd definitely come back.
