Bucheon Chinese restaurant Glory Works: tangsuyuk sauce on the side

In short

Glory Works is a Chinese restaurant in Sangdong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi, on the 1st floor of Sigma Tower on Gilju-ro. Visiting as a pair, the writer ordered the signature garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup): the tangsuyuk arrives without sauce poured over it, with a dedicated sauce full of minced garlic served on the side, while the jjamppong is packed with mussels, squid and whole shrimp. With a café-like interior and tablet ordering at every table, Glory Works suits dates, group meals and solo dining alike.

From the vibe to the taste, everything was perfect, so I really wanted to introduce this Chinese restaurant, Glory Works!!! Sangdong restaurant / Sangdong Station restaurant / Bucheon Chinese restaurant 🙌

I love Chinese food and have been to plenty of good spots, but this place's combo of distinctive garlic tangsuyuk and spicy seafood jjamppong is the best 👍

* I asked the staff if it was a chain, and they said no — it's actually originally based in Seoul, and it moved here!!! ———IT'S NOT A CHAIN, APPARENTLY——

- I'll say it right from the start: it's unique and delicious. Truly the best 👍

What does Glory Works look like inside and out?

✔️Clean, modern exterior and interior Even before stepping inside, the sleek floor-to-ceiling glass exterior and stylish standing sign caught my eye. 'Chinese restaurant Glory Works' — "have a glorious time!"

Interior with wood-toned tables and deep green sofa seating

Walking inside, instead of the typical heavy, red-toned Chinese restaurant feel, a very sleek and pleasant café-like interior unfolded. I kept telling my friend it really didn't feel like a Chinese restaurant at all!

Warm wood-toned tables, cozy lighting, and deep green sofa seating all come together to create a relaxed dining atmosphere.

I also loved that every table has a tablet installed, so you can check menu photos and order conveniently.

Reasonably priced menu lineup I sat down and looked over the menu. There's a wide range — noodle dishes, rice dishes, cooked dishes, and hearty set menus.

The sets combining popular menu items in particular are well put together, perfect for a good-value meal when visiting with a group!!

The two of us ordered Glory Works' signature garlic tangsuyuk + seafood jjamppong! We didn't wait long before the freshly cooked, still-hot dishes arrived.

Garlic tangsuyuk: why the sauce comes on the side

✔️Garlic tangsuyuk The garlic tangsuyuk I'd been most looking forward to arrived first. Crispy outside, tender inside — textbook 👍

Unlike typical tangsuyuk that comes pre-sauced or with a plain sweet sauce, here the golden-fried pork and a dedicated sauce packed with minced garlic are served separately.

When I picked up a piece with the tongs and cut into it, the cross-section showed thick, rosy, good-quality fresh meat packed in generously. The batter wasn't too thick either, and stayed nice and crispy!

I dipped it deep in the garlic sauce and took a bite — the sweet, savory flavor of the garlic sauce wrapped around my mouth, followed by the savory, clean flavor of the meat's juices. So good!!! The garlic aroma completely cut through any greasiness, so it was a top-notch treat I could enjoy without getting tired of it, bite after bite!

I've been to plenty of tangsuyuk spots, but the fried meat here was a bit unique and different. It definitely tastes like tangsuyuk, but also somehow a little like fried chicken? Anyway, it was truly distinctive and delicious. Highly recommend 👍👍👍

How spicy is the seafood jjamppong at Glory Works?

✔️Seafood jjamppong The seafood jjamppong arrived loaded with seafood. Mussels, squid, plump shrimp, and vegetables filled the bowl, and the broth felt rich just from looking at it.

I tasted the broth first with a spoon. It was clean without any heaviness, and the subtle smoky flavor combined with the deep umami of the seafood — it felt like it cleared everything out inside. The noodles were also springy and chewy, soaking up the broth nicely.

The plump, snappy whole shrimp along with fresh mussels and squid gave great texture to chew on 👍 (the squid especially was really chewy and delicious)

The spice level was just right, so even people who aren't great with spicy food could enjoy it — an addictive broth. That said, it might be spicy for those who really can't handle heat! I think I'll crave this later as a hangover-curing jjamppong! Truly just the right amount of spicy!

* Taking a bite of garlic tangsuyuk and then a sip of the spicy jjamppong broth — no need to say more, it was the best.

Final verdict on Glory Works in Sangdong, Bucheon

  • Taste: The harmony of the sweet garlic sauce on the tangsuyuk with the smoky seafood jjamppong is a work of art.
  • Service: Convenient tablet ordering and friendly staff.
  • ✔️ Parking available

Glory Works was satisfying in taste, atmosphere, and quality all around! I highly recommend visiting whenever you're craving distinctive tangsuyuk or a proper jjamppong. 😆
