Bucheon fries shop for a shopping-break lunch: Angry Potato food hall

Today I stopped by Angry Potato, a well-known spot in Bucheon Hyundai Department Store, for a simple (?) lunch-slash-snack :)

We came to Bucheon Hyundai Department Store to shop for fall clothes, and since we had an early dinner planned, I wanted something budget-friendly and light instead of a full meal! Bottom line — I was thrilled with every single menu item!

Where is Angry Potato in Bucheon, and what are the hours?

Angry Potato is located at 180 Giljju-ro, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, in the B1 food hall of Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch. Hours are Mon–Thu 10:30–20:00 and Fri–Sun 10:30–20:30, with 30 minutes of free parking.

Angry Potato is right at the bottom of the escalator on B1 of Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch, so it was super easy to find.

Angry Potato uses 100% fresh potatoes and fries them fresh the moment you order — a proper fries specialist.

I really love fries — I make them at home often, and honestly I sometimes eat a burger just as an excuse to eat fries!!!

The piles of potatoes and potato chips looked so delicious. Writing this now, I regret not grabbing chips while I was there..

What to order at Angry Potato for a shopping-break snack

Beyond fries, Angry Potato has the trendy chewy potatoes, Chili's cheese sticks, hot crunchy chicken, mini burgers, and more easy bites — making it a great snack spot at Bucheon Hyundai Department Store.

We meant to keep it simple, but the prices were reasonable and watching them fry everything right in front of us, we ended up adding item after item without even thinking!!

After ordering, we grabbed a table and waited near the pickup zone. Since Angry Potato is inside the food hall, you can use any open seating area freely!

We also watched them assemble the mini burgers by hand, skewering them on sticks — so cute haha. Next time I'll definitely try the mini burgers as a snack.

How many sauces? 9 kinds, ketchup included

One of the best things about Angry Potato is being able to pair so many menu items with so many different sauces!!

They said you can freely drizzle any of 9 sauces including ketchup. (We did just that once our order arrived, mixing and matching to taste.)

Watching from the pickup zone, they fried the fresh potatoes and chicken the instant we ordered, and the clean oil and open kitchen view were a nice touch — pretty much everyone who saw it ended up buying something too!

Deep Crunch Chicken Box, 19,500 won, with chewy potatoes

On top of the Deep Crunch Chicken Box, we ordered the Chipotle Pulled Pork Fries and the Chili's Cheese Sticks separately!! It's an insane amount of food, right?

The Deep Crunch Chicken Box comes with a generously sized hot crispy chicken plus fries and chewy potatoes, all for under ₩20,000 — such a good deal. Getting to try the trending chewy potatoes here too *_* They really do look like chewy dango rice cakes haha.

The chewy potatoes were even chewier than I expected — chewier than Gangneung's gil-gamja potato, honestly ㄷㄷ. They were delicious even plain without sauce, but I'd recommend ketchup or sriracha mayo!

The best bite at Angry Potato: hot crispy chicken

The one I ended up loving most was, surprisingly, the hot crispy chicken!!! Wow, such tender chicken thigh meat!! It's boneless, so I expected some dryness, but the meat pulled apart so softly the moment I picked it up.

I usually think fried chicken is best when it's a bit spicy and crispy, and this hot crispy chicken nailed it!! If I ordered again, I'd definitely go for the Deep Crunch Chicken Box again — I almost wanted to take some home haha.

Chili's Cheese Sticks, 4,500 won — how do they taste?

I finally tried the Chili's Cheese Sticks I'd always been curious about — packed with cheese, and it got better the more you chewed! After always eating those small teasing cheese sticks, having a big one felt so satisfying haha. The chili seasoning was pretty bold! Personally I think the plain, unseasoned version would be delicious on its own too — this seems like a flavor kids would love.

Chipotle Pulled Pork, 8,200 won, with a strong Mexican kick

We ordered the Chipotle Pulled Pork Fries for my boyfriend's taste — freshly fried, fluffy fries piled high with pulled pork. The moment you bite in, a strong Mexican flavor hits you, and even though it's not usually my thing, it was really tasty! The meat on top was tender and paired beautifully with the fries!

Angry Potato's plain fries are so fluffy and good on their own that they're delicious even without any sauce at all. If you're a true fries lover, I'd definitely recommend visiting once!!!

Is Angry Potato worth a stop on a Bucheon shopping date?

This place is already known as a must-visit at Bucheon Hyundai Department Store, and sure enough, tons of other people were there too, all enjoying chewy potatoes or fries as a snack haha. We come to Bucheon Hyundai Department Store on dates often, and we enjoyed this so much we want to come back — next time I'll try the milkshake, the mini burgers, and more fries too!
