Pyeongchon bar with pollack roe cream pasta and highballs: Baichan

In short

Baichan is a cooking pub on the 2nd floor of Pyeongchon Station Plaza in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a second-round visit to Baichan, the pollack roe cheese potato and pollack roe cream pasta arrived with a Baichan highball and a passionfruit highball, the cream thick and the portions generous. Between the atmosphere, the food and the portion sizes, Baichan is a Pyeongchon Station bar worth a return trip.

Baichan near Pyeongchon Station: the look inside and the basics

Exterior of Baichan, a bar in Pyeongchon Station Plaza

Today's review is of Baichan, a bar near Pyeongchon Station. It's right in Pyeongchon Station Plaza so it's super accessible, the mood is great, and the food is delicious — I've gone back several times haha.

Dimly lit table seating inside Baichan
Back seating area with floor-to-ceiling window at Baichan

With the slightly dim lighting and some private-feeling spaces, it's also great for a Pyeongchon Station work dinner. It's kept super~~~ clean. And at the very back there's a big floor-to-ceiling window that gives it an outdoor-tent kind of feel, plus it's on the 2nd floor with an open view — a great Pyeongchon Station bar for a drink.

Bar seats at Baichan, good for solo drinking

They've also got bar seats like this, so solo drinking near Beomgye Station is totally doable~~!!!

What's on the Baichan menu?

Here's the menu at Baichan, Pyeongchon Station bar. Let me just say up front — Baichan is a food-first place(?). Grilled flounder gonowata, flounder carpaccio, minari shabu nabe, boneless hairtail tempura, wasabi cream shrimp, pollack roe cream pasta, grilled pollack roe with cucumber rice, chicken cartilage karaage, napa cabbage steak, pollack roe cheese potato — the menu is packed!!! with tasty options.

This time we went hard on pollack roe with the pollack roe cream pasta and pollack roe cheese potato haha. Baichan's grilled pollack roe also comes with rice, making for an extra special combo — I recommend that one too ><

The complimentary starter and two highballs at Baichan

Basic side dishes: crab salad, yuzu pickled radish, and chicken leg

The basic side dishes came out first. Crab salad, yuzu pickled radish, and chicken leg! The salad was so good it could've been enough on its own. We came for a second round, so being this full was almost a shame!

A Baichan highball and a passionfruit highball

For drinks we started with a Baichan highball and a passionfruit highball. The Baichan highball had a subtle, satisfying whiskey aroma with a generous amount of whiskey haha. The passionfruit highball leaned more tart and sweet!!!!! Both were great haha.

Baichan's baked pollack roe cheese potato

How do Baichan's pollack roe cheese potato and cream pasta taste?

Then the pollack roe cheese potato arrived. A visual that makes you gasp the second you see it. Thin layers of pollack roe over a fluffy potato salad, topped with cheese and baked — an addictive dish. Savory, sweet potato, salty pollack roe, and cheese on top — a completely can't-go-wrong dish!

And the pollack roe cream pasta was so satisfying — thick cream and a generous portion!!! Pasta ordered as a side dish often comes in too-small portions, but at Baichan, Pyeongchon bar, the portion is really generous~~~! Plus the cream is super rich, so if you love cream pasta this is totally your thing!!!!

It's honestly hard to find a Pyeongchon Station bar with a good atmosphere, but Baichan has the mood, the food, and generous portions — there's no reason not to come back!! It'd been a while since I visited, and both dishes this time were a hit~~~~~ It's also a good spot for a date near Pyeongchon Station.

Close-up of neatly plated pollack roe dish

Good food deserves one more close-up shot..!!! The plating is pretty and neat too, so it seems like a good spot for a blind date, right? Just saying... The area has a lot of office workers, so on weekdays it seemed like people come here a lot for work dinners too!!

Pollack roe cream pasta noodles with shrimp and mushrooms

Just look at this thickness!!!!!!!!!! Loaded with plump shrimp, and the mushrooms you bite into here and there are a nice extra. The cream clings to the noodles together with the pollack roe for an absolute umami explosion.

Fluffy potato salad visible in the pollack roe cheese potato

You can probably already picture the texture of the pollack roe cheese potato!! Fluffy, soft potato salad topped with pollack roe and cheese — sweet, savory, salty, and creamy all at once!!

Table with both pollack roe dishes at Baichan

Baichan, the go-to spot for food near Pyeongchon Station, tasted great even when I was already full. Another satisfying repeat visit. Great for a first or second round at Pyeongchon Station, for a date or for drinking solo!!!! Ate well, thanks ><
