Marine City bakery: salt bread thank-you gift, boxed free, Zoblack

Zoblack is a salt bread bakery café in the Marine City Xi shopping arcade in Haeundae, Busan. The writer chose jambon-beurre, myeongran (pollock roe) and red bean butter salt breads plus an Earl Grey tigre. Zoblack boxed them for free, and they reached home intact; the generous salt and butter and the crisp bottoms stood out. For an easy thank-you gift, Zoblack's boxed salt bread is a good fit.

Low & Sweet Roastery (로우앤스윗 로스터리) is the second branch of a roastery café on Haeridan-gil in Haeundae, Busan, where the beans are roasted and blended in-store. On a weekday late afternoon, the writer had iced Kenya AA and iced decaf with a pistachio madeleine and a chocolate financier, and the Low & Sweet decaf was not too dark, so it went down easily. Low & Sweet Roastery is a good Haeridan-gil date café for couples who like acidic beans and baked sweets.

Gijang outlet restaurant: couple's lunch served all at once, Bueokgan

Bueokgan Restaurant is a Western restaurant of about 70 pyeong with a Nordic living-room feel, on the 1st floor of Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. With crispy-outside, soft-inside sweet potato fries and pizza with green Tabasco as the highlights, Bueokgan is a Gijang Western restaurant worth recommending for a meal before or after shopping.

Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui (죽림숯불돼지구이) is a charcoal pork BBQ restaurant on Gwangnam-ro near Gwangalli Beach in Busan, where staff grill the meat for you. On a weekday evening, two people shared the 500g Jukrim Handon set of Korean pork belly and neck with doenjang (soybean paste) stew. The set came with a ₩6,000 set discount, and the meat was grilled over Jirisan white charcoal and eaten with Maldon salt, meljeot (salted anchovy sauce), myeongi greens and house-made green onion sauce. With staff grilling, good side dishes and sauces, and a crab doenjang stew, Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui is worth recommending as a date-night pork BBQ in Gwangalli.

Yangsan crab restaurant: spicy crab for him, crab shell for me, Deodo

Deodo Gejang is a premium assorted gejang (marinated raw crab and seafood) restaurant in the Beomeo housing district of Habuk-myeon, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. A couple stopped by around 4 pm before the Tongdosa media art show and shared the assorted jang for two (56,000 won) with a nutritious pot rice set; the Jeju yellow crab shell bibimbap and the mild, not-salty soy-marinated jang were the standouts. The soft yellow crab stayed in the memory more than the spicy marinated crab, making Deodo Gejang a pre-Tongdosa meal worth a return visit, takeout or delivery.

Ilpum Irojeong is a Korean restaurant on Baengmin-ro in Milyang, Gyeongnam, that makes Namwon-style loach soup (chueotang) with a sanghwang mushroom broth. After a summer day at Pyochungsa Valley, the blogger had the loach soup set with boiled pork and grilled mackerel for lunch, along with soju at the 2,900-won event price. With its thick soup full of dried radish greens and a set meal that arrives piping hot, Ilpum Irojeong makes a good alternative to the usual baeksuk (whole boiled chicken) after a Milyang valley outing.

Donnamu Jip felt less like an ordinary BBQ joint and more like a caring meal at grandma's house, and the writer was thoroughly satisfied.

The writer paired draft beer with Yurak's Sashimi Moriawase (49,000 won), a seasonal assorted sashimi platter with an added uni (sea urchin) and sweet shrimp combo, and especially liked the fresh uni, the sweet shrimp, the not-too-salty house soy sauce and the calm music. For a date or group drinks with good atmosphere near Bupyeong Station, Yurak's uni and sweet shrimp platter is the answer.
