Gangneung guesthouse with a framed ocean view, Room 504: Your Anmok

In short

Your Anmok is an ocean-view guesthouse standing right in front of Anmok Beach in Gangneung. Unlike rooms 502 and 503 with their full-glass walls, room 504 has a square window frame that works like a picture frame, and it framed both a cloudy second morning and a clear third morning of the sea. The building exterior and bathroom at Your Anmok are worn, but the view alone makes up for everything.

Main photo of room 504 at Your Anmok, a guesthouse at Anmok Beach in Gangneung

Hey, it's Jjorangjjorang. In early September I went on a trip to Gangneung with Boksil — it was originally supposed to be one night, two days, but once we got there we wanted to stay one more night, so we scrambled to find a guesthouse in Gangneung. That's how we ended up at Your Anmok by Anmok Beach 🌊

When I searched through Superchart, room 504 wasn't even on the list, but I made a deal with the owner and got 504 anyway 😅 They warned me it might be a bit less nice than the other rooms — I guess because it's not a full-glass window? But I was completely satisfied 😍 The room is just pretty. It genuinely looked like a painting!!

Who should book room 504 at Your Anmok?

  • Anyone who cares more about the view than hotel-level facilities
  • Anyone who wants to relax to the sound of waves
  • Anyone who loves window-frame ocean photos

The building, the lobby and the 3rd-floor front desk

Honest talk before we go in!!! The exterior of the Your Anmok building honestly looks kind of old. But trust me and keep scrolling 🥺 because—

I brought back a legendary, absolutely delicious shot of the sea... anyway, back to the room tour.

Inside room 504: bed, kitchen and what is provided

Ta-da~ this is what it looked like when we first walked in. A bit dark, right? The weather was like this on the day we checked in. But I actually like the sea looking this way too. I'll show you the really pretty version further down...😎 First, let's go through the room!

Inside room 504 with the bed and two-person table

There's a table for two next to the bed. You can use it as a dining table. There's an air conditioner above it too! We could watch Netflix on the TV.

In front of the bathroom there was a mini fridge, a microwave, and towels.

A note! They asked us to read it carefully when we came in. You can't use a frying pan inside Your Anmok — only the provided Zaigle electric griddle. Basic tableware is provided in the room too. Under the sink there's a knife, scissors, dish sponge, dish soap, a kettle, and a trash bin.

Cutlery and basic tableware on the kitchen shelf in room 504

The kitchen shelf has basic tableware inside! There's cutlery, a wine opener, coasters, and even dessert spoons and forks.

Matching set of cups, plates, and bowls provided in the room

Cups, plates, and bowls are all neatly set out as a matching set.

Two 500ml bottles of water come standard in the mini fridge!

Towels and other amenities are set out in front of the bathroom
Separate makeup mirror provided in room 504

There's a separate makeup mirror, which I loved 😎 When you're traveling with a friend, having just one big mirror can actually get inconvenient sometimes 😭

Toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap prepared in the bathroom

Is the bathroom in room 504 too small? Amenities included

Honestly, the bathroom is a bit small. I thought it might feel cramped for a bigger guy, but it wasn't a huge issue for us. There was a toothbrush and toothpaste, which was nice, and soap was provided too 👍 I'm a bar-soap person so I was happy, but Boksil is a liquid-soap person so... haha.

Room 504 filled with daytime natural light
A friend taking a photo under the room's lighting
Boksil taking a photo because the lighting is so fluffy

During the day the natural light is really good, so I barely noticed the lighting was dim. But at night, the lighting felt a bit dark 😭 It's fluffy and cute, but maybe that's exactly why it feels dim. Still, on the first night Boksil and I basically passed out asleep, so it wasn't a big deal haha.

Room 504's framed ocean view: cloudy day 2 vs clear day 3

Thanks for scrolling this far — now let me show you the insane part 😎

Anmok Beach framed by room 504's window on a clear day-3 morning
Blue sea and sky seen through the window frame

I woke up in the morning, saw this view, and honestly just lost it...

???: Wait, isn't this fake? You said the photo above was inside — is this AI?

Jjorangjjorang: No, this is from the morning of day 3. FYI, day 2 looked like this:

Anmok Beach view from room 504's window on a cloudy day 2
Photo of a friend taken by the window on day 2

Day 2 wasn't ugly either — the weather was just a little dim, and Boksil still looked great in photos!!! But on day 3, when the weather cleared up, it was a jaw-dropping view!!!!!

The view genuinely eats everything else alive. At night, the gentle sound of waves kept drifting into the room, and when you open your eyes in the morning, the sea, the beach, and the sky are all right there in one glance 😍😍😍😍 The ocean at the Shilla Monogram was gorgeous too, of course, but here — even on a low floor — nothing blocks the view, so you get to enjoy the beach all the way down too!!! So in short, to sum it all up—

Full ocean view of Anmok Beach spread across room 504's window

If you book room 504 at Your Anmok, this all becomes yours?????? I swear this isn't edited — I stake Boksil's honor on it, it's a real unretouched photo.

Eating a morning sandwich with that view right beside you — it makes you insanely happy 😭😭 If all you care about is a full-glass window view, rooms 502 or 503 might suit you better, but room 504 lets you use the square window frame like a picture frame, so we ended up taking a ton of photos! Especially on the morning of day 3, we just sat and watched people walking on the beach, the sea, and the sky for the longest time 🥹

You've got to see the dawn view too. There's nothing to complain about, seriously. The sea really is just that good...

Q: Isn't this whole thing worthless if the weather's bad?

A: Nonsense. Who books a beachfront guesthouse assuming bad weather? When we plan a trip, we start by betting the weather will be good, obviously. So of course you pick the place with the best view, right? Fortune favors the bold when it comes to the sea. Isn't this seriously incredible — I basically felt like I was on a boat.

Oh right! The night sea view is amazing too... Watching people stroll along at dawn from the window frame was such a treat 😭 Why would I even open an ASMR app when the ocean is right next to me...😍

Tips to know before booking room 504 at Your Anmok

👍 If you're looking for a guesthouse near Anmok Beach and the view matters more to you than facilities, I'd recommend room 504 too. It's also amazing for photos 📷

❗ Don't expect hotel-level facilities. The building exterior is on the older side, and the bathroom and interior feel far from a hotel.

❗ Please stick to the check-in time. Early check-in isn't possible, but we were able to drop off our luggage in advance.

❗ There are several restaurants nearby, but from our experience there weren't many with real character. We were curious about the jang-kalguksu (soy-broth knife-cut noodle) place, haha.

Photo taken lying on the bed with the sea visible beyond

👍 If you have someone to take a photo for you, you can get one lying on the bed with the sea visible behind you! If the weather's good, this place is truly the best pick!!

Verdict: a Gangneung guesthouse where the sea view covers everything

If this place were in the city, I don't think I'd rate it this highly. But the view stretching out in front of you genuinely eats everything else alive 😍 The waves I heard all night, the blue sea and beach in the morning, and the picture-like scene framed by the window — I would have happily stayed one more night if our schedule allowed.

If I go back to Anmok Beach, I'd happily book this place again. The moment you wake up and right before check-out are especially legendary 😭💙 If you're looking for a Gangneung guesthouse you can pick based on the view alone, I recommend Your Anmok 👍
