This trip to Gangneung was for my boyfriend's birthday and our couple's anniversary, so I didn't want to pick a place carelessly. While looking through a bunch of Gangneung stays, the two things I cared about most were how close it was to the sea and whether I could actually enjoy an ocean view from the room itself. That's how I landed on Your Anmok, right in front of Anmok Beach, and we spent a special day in Room 401.

I loved the location from the start since Your Anmok sits right in front of Anmok Beach. Walking it myself, it took less than a minute to get from the stay to the beach, so there was no need to hop in a car at all. Anmok Cafe Street is close by too, so during the day the flow of browsing cafés, walking the beach, and coming back to the room was really convenient.

There's also a GS25 convenience store right below the building, so whenever we needed a drink or snack at night, we could just pop down — little things like that end up mattering a lot on a trip. Just a heads-up when booking: Your Anmok also has a Jumunjin branch, so make sure to double-check the address!

What does Room 401 at Your Anmok look like?

The room I stayed in was Room 401 at Your Anmok. The moment I walked in, what struck me was how clean and tidy it felt overall. It was decorated mainly in white tones, so the space felt bright and comfortable, and rather than an overly styled interior, the blue sea outside the window caught my eye even more.

The fridge was kept neat too, and two free bottles of water were ready for us so we could drink comfortably right after arriving.

Simple cooking was possible too, so it looked like a good setup for boiling ramyeon (instant noodles) as a late-night snack.

The bathroom was clean and the hot water worked well, which I appreciated, and basic amenities included disposable toothbrush and toothpaste. What caught my eye especially was that, beyond regular towels, a separate body towel was provided. Since Anmok Beach is right there, plenty of people probably swim and come straight back to the room in summer, so having a body towel on hand seemed like it would be even more useful during vacation season.

I've had experiences before where a stay's photos looked too pretty and the actual visit was disappointing, but this time the clean room atmosphere paired with the sea made me glad I chose it as our anniversary stay.

How good is the ocean view from Room 401?

Room 401 at Your Anmok is an ocean-view room where you can see Anmok Beach from inside the room itself. That ocean view was the biggest reason I chose Your Anmok among all the Gangneung stays I looked at.

Coming all the way to Gangneung, I wanted somewhere I could soak in the sea even while resting, rather than a place where you sightsee all day and just sleep at the stay. In Room 401, Anmok Beach was visible from inside the room, so even without going outside, I could really feel like I was in Gangneung. With the blue sea spreading out beyond the white-toned room, it also made for pretty photos combining the room and the ocean view.

What I liked most was that time spent at the stay didn't feel wasted at all. Usually when traveling, I try to cram in as many sightseeing spots as possible, so the stay ends up being just a place to sleep. This time, since it was a trip for my boyfriend's birthday and our anniversary, I wanted to slow down a bit, and resting in the room while looking at the sea felt like its own leg of the trip.

After wandering around Anmok Cafe Street outside, whenever we got tired we could come back to rest, and whenever we wanted to see the sea again, it was less than a minute's walk to the beach — it felt like we'd covered both location and ocean view at once.

Honest review: Your Anmok as a couple's anniversary stay in Gangneung

Since this trip was for a special occasion, I put more thought than usual into choosing a stay, and after actually staying there, Your Anmok checked both boxes I cared about most — ocean view and location. Anmok Beach is right out front, Cafe Street is close by, so it was easy to leave the car and explore on foot, and with a convenience store right below the building, there was nothing lacking for spending time around the stay.

Especially for anyone heading to Gangneung for a couple's trip to mark a birthday or anniversary like we did, this was a great spot to spend time a bit more leisurely, looking at the sea from the room rather than just running around sightseeing.

If it's a summer vacation, being able to swim at Anmok Beach and come straight back to the stay is a big plus too, and having a body towel ready makes it even more convenient. If you don't want to compromise on either distance to Anmok Beach or an ocean-view room when picking a Gangneung stay, Room 401 at Your Anmok is worth keeping an eye on. For a couple's trip marking a special day like ours, this was a place where even the sea seen from the room could become a scene of the trip itself.
