Hi hi, it's Mando :)
I was craving meat after a while so I went to a Korean BBQ restaurant!! Great value, drink prices are insane, the place is spacious, and the staff are friendly — a full 100-point restaurant, totally recommend 💯
Where is Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong? Right by Chungnam National University's main gate
Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong is located right in front of Chungnam National University's main gate! So it's super accessible for getting a group together haha. I actually saw a lot of college student gatherings there too?!

The meat value for money is seriously insane... meat prices these days are really~~~ expensive, but here the prices were so nice ⭐️⭐️

Can drink prices really be this nice?? Truly the optimal spot for gatherings~~ if you like drinking, you'll really love it here.

How big is Oil-nae, and are there private rooms for groups?
As soon as I walked into Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I expected!! There are plenty of tables and the space overall is spacious, so even with a decent number of people it never felt cramped. There are also private rooms, so groups can get a bit of a private feel too. Seems like it'd be great for college club gatherings?!

The side dishes are really varied, right~? Like five hundred things to pair with the meat..🤤

What's in the self-serve banchan refill corner?
What I loved most is that Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong has a separate self-serve banchan refill corner! There's green onion kimchi, kimchi, mountain garlic leaves (myeongi namul) as side dishes, plus garlic and sesame oil. When you're eating meat you keep wanting more kimchi, garlic, or side dishes, and it was so convenient to just grab as much as I needed without feeling awkward about it 😘
The sauces were pretty varied too!! It's not just salt or ssamjang — there's also wholegrain mustard, so I could mix it up a bit when eating pork belly or pork neck haha.

The half-set stew: soybean paste or kimchi jjigae?
We ordered the half-set, which comes with a stew haha. You can choose between soybean paste or kimchi, and we went with kimchi jjigae. There was a generous amount of kimchi in it, so the broth was nice and spicy-tangy, and it felt like it cleanly cut through the richness of the meat!! It was also great with rice 〰️〰️

How were the pork belly and pork neck at Oil-nae?
What we ordered that day at Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong was pork belly and pork neck.

The Oil-nae pig stamp haha, so cute.. The pork belly was grilled just golden enough that the nutty flavor really came through, and the pork neck was leaner than the belly but still juicy — so glad we ordered both!!

Pork skin (dwaeji kkeopdegi) with both soybean powder and red sauce
Whenever I go to a Korean BBQ restaurant, I look forward to the pork skin (dwaeji kkeopdegi) more than the meat itself.. and the pork skin at Oil-nae Daejeon Bongmyeong is genuinely delicious!!! I'm firmly on Team Soybean Powder, so I get sad at places that don't offer it... but here they give you both red sauce and soybean powder, so full marks 🔥
As in the photo, the skin is grilled golden-brown with the seasoning well soaked in, giving it a chewy, sweet-and-salty flavor I loved. Dipping it alternately in the soybean powder and sauce that come with it doubles the flavor ✌️

The meat got grilled perfectly golden haha. Wrapping it in mountain garlic leaves or green onion kimchi also cut through the richness.

Dip the mushrooms in sauce too~ and for the meat, wasabi with mountain garlic leaves! Best combo ever.

A thoughtful touch by the exit
The owner's thoughtfulness is next-level. Mouthwash / fabric deodorizer / masks / toothpicks!! Make sure to grab that little touch on your way out haha.
Overall, it was a spacious, comfortable Korean BBQ restaurant with a well-organized banchan refill corner, making for an easy meal 🐷 From basics like pork belly and pork neck to pork skin and kimchi jjigae, there's a good variety of dishes, and being able to pair them however you like with green onion kimchi, mountain garlic leaves, garlic, and various sauces was very satisfying.
The restaurant itself is spacious, so it's a total recommendation for family dinners or visits with a bunch of friends!! A great place to drop by comfortably whenever you're craving pork belly or pork neck and want a filling, great-value meal — everyone should give it a try 🩵🩵💯
