Where do you park at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae?

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae (기장명품대게) is located at 5 Chaseongdong-ro 73beon-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, right next to Gijang Market. If you type Gijang Myeongpum Daegae into navigation, you arrive right in front of the store (photo), and a staff member outside pointed us to the parking lot again, so we had no trouble parking.

We visited early in the morning so there was still some parking space, but when we left around 1pm after our meal, the lot was already full. If there's no space, you can park at the Gijang Market public lot and get your parking fee covered :-)

The moment we walked in, these huge snow crabs caught our eye. Not just snow crab either — they have king crab too! Our little princess was totally distracted haha.

We asked for enough for two adults and a 5-year-old, and they told us two crabs would be plenty.

Honestly, the biggest worry when you go out for crab... is getting ripped off, right? Basket weight sneaked into the total, or the so-called "water trick"! We're the kind of people who can't make a scene in public (haha), so market-price dishes like this always made us hesitant. But at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, the scale was already set with -652g for the basket weight subtracted from the start. And since the basket is full of drainage holes, water weight is naturally excluded too! Thanks to that, we could eat with real peace of mind haha.

Inside Gijang Myeongpum Daegae: rooms and seating on the 2nd floor

Dining at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae happens on the 2nd floor. There's a dining area on the 1st floor too, but it seemed to be used only when the place is full! The interior was very clean and calm, and the place is huge — great for group visits too.

There's a separate large room, as well as a doorless room-style space.

What's on the salad bar at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae?

And the best part — Gijang Myeongpum Daegae's own salad bar! Even before eating, it was satisfying just to see how spotlessly it was kept haha.

Boneless fried chicken, sweet pumpkin/pepper/sweet potato fritters, boiled corn, and even palbochae (stir-fried seafood and vegetables). None of it was just for show — it was genuinely tasty, and the fritters were crisp, not soggy at all.

Various pickled side dishes including kimchi, plus fusilli pasta, glass noodle salad, and crab meat salad.

The crab meat salad, fusilli, and glass noodle salad... they taste exactly like the salad bar at Mippy (formerly Mippy-sooni)!!! It's been so long since I've had that nostalgic taste, I went back for seconds and thirds haha.

Snow crab and the free abalone, kept hot in the steamer

And then the snow crab arrived. Two abalones were also served on the house. It comes out on a steamer with the burner still on, so you can eat it piping hot the whole way through.

Packed full of meat, plus plenty of intestine! It looked absolutely delicious. The size was pretty impressive too haha — could we really finish it all...?

The crab shell full of intestine came out too, and it was so nutty and delicious haha. But we held back and saved room for the fried rice :-) Eat it all and you won't have room for fried rice, you know!

Even though it was complimentary, the abalone was a great size! Both went to me since I'm the abalone lover here ♥

Look how packed the meat is! I'd heard winter is the season for snow crab, and when I had it elsewhere in spring, it was really... hollow, nothing to eat.^^ But the crab at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae was completely packed, no gaps at all.

The body meat was so full too — the soft, mild leg meat is great, but I love the moist, nutty body meat too! Eating it together with the intestine gives you incredible depth of flavor... ♥

Two crab intestine fried rice orders and doenjang stew the 5-year-old loved

Ordering the fried rice at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae comes with a doenjang stew included. The fried rice and doenjang stew arrive together.

This right here... is genuinely delicious. Even people who can't handle crab intestine should be fine with this. Our 5-year-old said it was tasty and ate it right up.

Fluffy texture plus the nuttiness of the intestine. We were already full from the crab alone and debated ordering just one, but we're glad we got two — we scraped the bowls completely clean.

The clean-tasting doenjang stew alongside it was really delicious too :-)

Eating it with a little crab meat we'd saved was genuinely amazing. Don't finish all the crab before the rice arrives — save just a little to eat together!!!!!!
