Euljiro 3-ga bar where bread mops up yuxiang eggplant sauce: Hey Jinny

In short

Hey Jinny (헤이지니) is a gastropub and wine bar on a second floor in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, a 2–3 minute walk from Euljiro 3-ga Station Exit 11. At Hey Jinny, the writer paired crispy yuxiang eggplant (fish-fragrant eggplant) and Osaka Niboebi shrimp oil pasta with highballs; the eggplant sauce was so good that a side order of bread went into the leftover sauce. With mains at 18,000–22,000 won and window seats, Hey Jinny is an easy recommendation for a date-night bar in Euljiro.

Today I'm sharing my review of Hey Jinny (헤이지니), a place I found while hunting for an Euljiro date-night bar! The crispy eggplant and the Osaka niboebi shrimp oil pasta were both better than I expected, and they went really well with highballs, so I rushed to write this up as an Euljiro date bar recommendation!

Looks tasty, right? Yes, it was tasty, hahaha. Honestly, eating just that is a little light for two people, so ordering one more side might be a good idea.

Every single dish was satisfying enough that it felt like finding a hidden gem, so I hope you'll visit this Euljiro 3-ga wine spot soon! Haha.

Hey Jinny location and atmosphere: how far from Euljiro 3-ga Station?

Hey Jinny's address is 7 Eulji-ro 12-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, 2nd floor. It's only a 2–3 minute walk from Euljiro 3-ga Station Exit 11, so it's easy to get to even on hot days like these.

Honestly, the space is small, not big, but the mood was cozy, and since there's a group table in the middle, I saw a few teams there for company dinners too.

So if you're expecting a very quiet atmosphere, it might be a bit different, but it wasn't chaotic or noisy either. With good food and a highball, it's a nice place to chat comfortably.

How was the window seat?

The window seat we sat at was a little less cool (the air conditioning didn't reach as well), but it was great for watching the view outside over a highball, and with the cozy mood I was personally quite happy with it!

Hey Jinny menu prices and wine selection

Starting with the menu: mains run about ₩18,000–22,000, which felt like a fair price for an Euljiro date bar.

Above all, the food quality was pretty good, and the wine list is really varied, so wine lovers will enjoy picking something to their taste. I thought this price was fine to pay, haha.

How does the Osaka niboebi shrimp oil pasta taste?

Next up was the Osaka niboebi shrimp oil pasta I'd been waiting and waiting for! Plump shrimp sat on top, and the salty aroma hit me right away, so my expectations shot up the moment it arrived!

There was almost none of the greasiness oil pastas usually have. The sharp garlic aroma and the salty seasoning blended just right, so I didn't get tired of it to the very end!

Eating the springy shrimp together with the noodles really brought out the savory depth, and it went wonderfully with the highball. I wolfed it down so fast that I wished there were a bit more, but the taste itself was so satisfying that this is a dish I'd definitely recommend at Hey Jinny, my Euljiro date bar pick! Haha.

Crispy eggplant, and bread for the leftover sauce

Next, the crispy "fish-tank" eggplant (eohang gaji, a Chinese-style fried eggplant)! Honestly, I really think you should try this one! The fried coating is crispy outside and moist and soft inside, and with the sweet, savory sauce it's great on its own and as a highball snack.

The sauce was so good that I even dipped the side bread I'd ordered into what was left. If you like eggplant, of course, but even if you're not a big fan, I think it's worth ordering at least once♥

Pasta made with premium anchovies and dried shrimp melted into the oil

As the menu description says, the Osaka niboebi shrimp oil pasta is made by melting top-grade anchovies and dried shrimp into the oil, so it felt a little different from an ordinary oil pasta.

Above all, the sauce soaked well into the noodles, so it never turned bland down to the last bite, and a subtle savory flavor rose the more I chewed. I enjoyed it a lot and wanted to recommend it♥

Pasta portion that works for sharing between two

Is the portion enough for two?

Is this about right when two people share? It didn't feel too small for two, and for an oil pasta the noodle portion is surprisingly generous. If you're sharing between two, I'd suggest ordering bread too so you're properly full!

In conclusion... I was happy with both the eggplant and the Osaka niboebi shrimp oil pasta. Each has such a distinct charm that I'd struggle to pick just one, so I recommend trying both! That was my honest review of Hey Jinny, a hidden-gem bar near Euljiro 3-ga and a good place for an Euljiro date.
