Tareudang is a takeaway dessert café in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, specializing in fruit mochi. Mango yogurt, pineapple, and fresh chocolate mochi made excellent KTX snacks, with generous fruit and wonderfully chewy rice cake. Verdict: add an insulated bag if you will be carrying them for a while.

Buja Hodu is a handmade walnut-pastry café on the main street of Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. We tried low-sugar red bean paste, pea cream cheese, matcha, and almond praline pastries with my parents at weekday lunch. Verdict: Buja Hodu makes a thoughtful, easy-on-the-stomach Gyeongju gift.
