Ppwang Mulhoe is a dog-friendly mulhoe restaurant by Yeongildae Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. Joy and I enjoyed split squid-and-flounder mulhoe, seasoned raw squid, fried squid, and the unlimited self bar in a private room. Ppwang Mulhoe was an exceptionally comfortable choice for dining on Pohang mulhoe with a dog.
Otters Jisan Saetgang Main Branch is a large bakery café on Seonsan-daero in Gumi, Gyeongbuk. On the way home, we chose seven cream doughnuts, a berry latte, and brown sugar milk tea, then looked around the ample parking and seating across two floors. Verdict: generously filled but not overly sweet doughnuts make this a great place to share several flavors.

On a drizzly day, this couple had avocado coffee, 5,900 won watermelon juice, and cheesecake, with the real-watermelon flavor of the chilled juice being the standout. Verdict: a lovely quiet date café away from Gyeongju’s crowds.

Two adult men ordered pepperoni pizza, beef brisket oil pasta, beef risotto, green grape ade, and Zero Coke, and found the portions generous. Verdict: a satisfying pick for a hearty Hwangridan-gil meal or date.
Yard is a two-story brunch café near Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, with a seasonal flower field. I walked among blooming yellow cosmos and tried the guacamole open rye baguette and mushroom soup. Verdict: Yard makes a lovely Gyeongju brunch stop with flowers on the side.
