Gumi bakery café for soboro salt bread: Otters

Last week, I visited Otters, a large café in Gumi with a wide range of drinks and baked goods. I tried walnut red bean bread, soboro salt bread, a real milk cream doughnut, a bulgogi pizza croquette, an Americano, a butter cream latte, and tteokbokki—and every bread item was delicious 💛

Otters location and large parking lot

Otters Jisan Saetgang Main Branch is at 11 Seonsan-daero, Jisan-dong 603-1, Gumi, Gyeongbuk. It is at the Jisan-dong entrance beneath the overpass, in the direction of Gumi Public Health Center and Munseong from Geumo Mountain and Gumi Station. By car, it is 13 minutes from Geumo Mountain, 6 minutes from Gumi Station, and 4 minutes from Gumi City Hall. The parking lot is really spacious.

A welcome-kids zone and photo spots

The soaring open ceiling makes the space feel incredibly airy, right? With lots of room and wide spacing between tables, it is a great café for chatting with your group ☺️

There is even a Kodak photo booth in the middle of the café! They also have a variety of headbands beside it.

Otters is a welcome-kids-zone café. The first floor has a nursing room and a place to change diapers, while the second floor has group seating and floor tables where families can sit around together. There are cushions tucked away beside these seats, too!

Everywhere at Otters is a photo spot 📸 The café is big and beautifully decorated, so lots of guests were taking photos.

I ordered a whole variety: walnut red bean bread, soboro salt bread, a real milk cream doughnut, a bulgogi pizza croquette, an Americano, a butter cream latte, and tteokbokki!

The breads and drinks I tried

They bake the bread right in the café! Everything was so good that I kept eating in amazement 💛

The Americano had no acidity; it was not bitter, but nutty and clean. The butter cream latte was rich and sweet. It tasted like coffee ice cream, but with a luxurious, deep flavor!

The bulgogi pizza croquette was crisp outside and moist and fluffy inside. The seasoning was just right, haha. My dad said it would make a good meal on its own ☺️

Otters' walnut red bean bread was moist and soft. The moderately sweet red bean filling and nutty walnuts were delicious together.

The soboro salt bread was my top pick 😚 I really love soboro bread, so a buttery salt bread topped with soboro was completely my taste! I also liked that the soboro was not overly sweet. The salt bread and soboro combination was so good! I want it again 💛

The real milk cream doughnut had fluffy bread and was filled with soft cream 🤍 I think it was plant-based milk cream. It was tasty without becoming too rich!

The tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) had soft wheat rice cakes and stretchy cheese on top; it was sweet, spicy, and delicious 🧡 It is spicy enough to be exactly the kind students would love, but it may be too hot for young children.

Takeout bags and receipt event

At the self-service corner, there are plastic bags and OPP bags so you can pack up any leftover bread to take home. Such a thoughtful touch from the owner ✨ Otters is also running a receipt review event. Write a review and receive one random doughnut!

Otters says it pursues wholesome food and home-style baked goods 🌿 Truly, none of the breads had an overpowering flavor, and I liked that they were not too sweet. I think everyone from children to seniors, regardless of age or gender, could enjoy this place 💛
