This time, I’d like to introduce Yard, a café near Gyeongju’s Bomun Tourist Complex that I happened to discover while traveling in Gyeongju. It’s a brunch café with a field full of yellow cosmos, so it made for such a satisfying outing where we could enjoy flower viewing and brunch all at once. If you’re looking for a place with a lovely atmosphere near Gyeongju’s Bomun Tourist Complex, I think today’s review will help 🌼
Getting to Yard in Gyeongju and parking

Yard is on the main road by Gyeongju World, near the entrance to Seorabeol Elementary School. If you’re coming from Gyeongju World toward downtown, pass Yard and make a U-turn about 300 m ahead. If you’re coming from downtown toward Gyeongju World, pass Coffee Myungga and turn right about 100 m ahead—you’ll arrive right away. There is parking in front of and behind the café, so getting there by car was not particularly inconvenient.
A Bomun Tourist Complex café welcomed by a cosmos flower field

The biggest reason I came to Yard was the wide flower field of about 1,000 pyeong spread out in front of the café. I heard that different flowers bloom each season, and when we visited, yellow cosmos were in full bloom, creating waves of yellow. The flowering period is said to run from August 15 to October 15, so if you visit then, you’ll likely see the cosmos in full bloom like we did.

There is a walking path through the flower field, making it really great for photos, but I saw lots of bees, so it’s best to be careful. Colorful umbrella props were also available, making a nice photo spot.
Inside the café, with floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor

Yard was a large, two-story brunch café. The restroom was inside the café, which was convenient, and the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows felt wonderfully open.

In particular, I heard that the second floor fills with cherry blossoms across its large windows in spring. It was impressive that this is a space where you can feel a different charm in every season.

We ordered conveniently at the kiosk in front of the counter. Along with brunch dishes, there was also a wide range of coffee and desserts.
Guacamole open rye baguette and mushroom soup

Since we had already had iced Americanos that morning, we focused on brunch dishes and ordered the following without drinks.
- Guacamole open rye baguette ₩16,000
- Mushroom soup ₩6,000

The guacamole open rye baguette was really satisfying. The rye baguette was generously topped with arugula, shrimp, a soft-cooked egg, cheese, and tomato, but above all, they spread on a truly generous amount of guacamole. Every bite was full of rich, nutty avocado flavor. The shrimp-and-arugula combination was refreshing too, making it a dish I kept reaching for.

On the other hand, the mushroom soup had a fairly ordinary, straightforward flavor. It was a classic-style soup topped with croutons, pepper, and herbs. Nothing especially stood out, but it paired well enough with the brunch dishes.

Who I recommend it for

- Those who want to relax and enjoy brunch at an unhurried pace
- Those looking for a pretty café for a date during a Gyeongju trip
Overall
If you’re looking for a café around Gyeongju’s Bomun Tourist Complex, I definitely recommend Yard. It was a rewarding place where we could take in the beauty of the season in a wide flower field and enjoy a filling brunch too. The guacamole open rye baguette in particular was delicious enough that I’d return 100%. I heard that it offers a different charm each season, with cherry blossoms in spring and cosmos in autumn, so I’d love to visit this Bomun Tourist Complex café again at another time of year!
