Ocean-view pork noodle restaurant for a late brunch: Handam Guksu

Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is a Korean restaurant right in front of Handam Beach in Aewol, Jeju, with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall facing the sea. Visited around 11am for brunch, the writer had bean-sprout beef bone broth pork noodles, an extra-large dongchimi bibim noodles, and handmade pork tteokgalbi, and loved the clean, rich broth and thin noodles. A spot worth recommending if you want both the view and the noodles on your Aewol itinerary.

After parking at the market's public lot and browsing the stalls, the writer ordered whole grilled black pork belly, draft beer, and Cheonsa cheese kimchi fried rice, with staff grilling the thick cuts tableside. Dipping the pork in nothing but Maldon salt from the self-serve bar was the best combination of the night.

Chewy glutinous rice and unsweetened whole red bean filling made it a satisfying gift to bring home.
