Anseong brunch café for truffle ham risotto and pasta: Chat Baker

In short

Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a huge 500-pyeong café spread across two floors at 512 Square, near Lotte Mart and Farm Land in Gongdo, Anseong, Gyeonggi. On a second visit, the writer ordered jambon truffle cream risotto, mentaiko shrimp oil pasta, and an iced Americano, finding al dente rice and a briny, umami mentaiko kick. Anyone looking for restaurant-quality brunch should put Chat Baker on the list.

A brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong: Chat Baker

Today I want to introduce Chat Baker, my pick for brunch café recommendations in Anseong haha. Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is located near Anseong Gongdo Lotte Mart and Farm Land, so it's perfect for a weekend date or a family brunch outing ^^

Here's the exterior of Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery, my recommended brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong haha.

Chat Baker exterior with green sign and white logo

Chat Baker is a large café at 500 pyeong, using both the 1st and 2nd floors, with a green sign and white Chat Baker logo that gave it a modern, sleek feel!!

Parking space was also generous, so I could comfortably drive there without worrying about parking, and since 512 Square has a lot of outdoor outlet stores, it was great for combining shopping with brunch :)

1st floor bakery and 2nd floor LP space

Here's the interior of Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery, my recommended brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong haha.

Chat Baker display case with kouign-amann and other breads
Central 1st floor space with coffee bar and register

True to its bakery café identity, the 1st floor had a variety of baked goods like salt bread, kouign-amann, and croissants, with a structure where the staff's coffee-brewing area and the register were together in the middle!!

High-ceilinged interior of the large café

Since both floors are used, the ceiling is high, giving a real sense of openness and comfort ^^

LP records on display on Chat Baker's 2nd floor

Right in the middle of the 2nd floor, LP records of various genres were on display — turns out Chat Baker is named after a famous American jazz trumpet player haha.

What's on the menu?

Chat Baker's brunch and drinks menu board

Here's the menu at Chat Baker, my recommended brunch café in Anseong haha. As befits a large café where you can enjoy both brunch and bakery items, there were so many brunch dishes and baked goods..!!

Starting with mentaiko (salted pollock roe) shrimp oil pasta, there was also mushroom perilla oil pasta, jambon truffle cream risotto, basil cream gnocchi, and more — dishes that sounded delicious just from their names ^^

For dessert there was also bingsu (shaved ice) — coconut fresh mango bingsu, melon snow bingsu, watermelon snow bingsu — plus plenty of drink options to suit your taste!! This time I ordered the jambon truffle cream risotto, mentaiko shrimp oil pasta, and an iced Americano :)

Here's the group shot after everything arrived haha. The risotto and pasta looked mouthwatering at first glance — you could immediately see why Chat Baker is famous as a brunch hotspot ^^

Two brunch plates on the table

Jambon truffle cream risotto

First up, the jambon truffle cream risotto haha.

A plate of jambon truffle cream risotto
Truffle cream risotto topped with jambon beurre

The subtle truffle aroma paired really well with the cream risotto, and the jambon beurre (ham butter) added texture that could otherwise have felt a bit flat!!

Close-up of al dente risotto rice in thick cream sauce

Best of all, the risotto rice was perfectly al dente, so I could really enjoy the rich, thick cream sauce, and topping it with a big chunk of jambon beurre made for a great combination :)

Pickles served alongside the risotto

When it started to feel a bit rich, the pickles served alongside added freshness, so I could keep eating without getting tired of it haha.

A glass of Chat Baker's iced Americano

Iced Americano

The iced Americano leaned more toward nuttiness than acidity, and unlike cheap coffee, it had no burnt taste from the beans (?) — clean and exactly my style..!!

Personally, I thought the slightly bitter Americano paired really well with the risotto and pasta, so if you're heading there for brunch, I highly recommend an iced Americano like I had ^^

Plate of mentaiko shrimp oil pasta

Mentaiko shrimp oil pasta

Next up, the mentaiko shrimp oil pasta haha.

Lifting a forkful of mentaiko shrimp oil pasta

The mentaiko shrimp oil pasta could have been a plain oil pasta, but the added mentaiko brought a salty, savory umami that was really appealing :)

Plump shrimp in the oil pasta

There was also a generous amount of plump shrimp, and the springy texture of the shrimp paired beautifully with the oil pasta noodles!!

Overall thoughts

Sharing my review of Chat Baker, my recommended large café in the Pyeongtaek-Anseong area, located in Gongdo-eup, Anseong haha. I'd highly recommend Chat Baker to anyone looking for a large brunch café in Pyeongtaek or Anseong — you can enjoy great brunch alongside a variety of desserts, and this is already my second visit :)

Personally, there are quite a few large cafés in Pyeongtaek and Anseong, but not many that specialize in proper brunch like Chat Baker does — once you visit like I did, you'll definitely want to come back haha.

When I visited on an early weekend lunch, there were couples and families of all kinds, and plenty of people simply enjoying coffee and salt bread!

This time I went for brunch and had the jambon truffle cream risotto, mentaiko shrimp oil pasta, and an iced Americano — the risotto and pasta were surprisingly good quality, better than a lot of restaurants ^^

The mentaiko shrimp oil pasta was especially my style — the combination of salty mentaiko and oil was great, and eating it together with the plump shrimp and pasta was a can't-miss combo, so definitely try it haha.

For anyone in the Anseong Gongdo area looking for a brunch café or a brunch spot near Anseong Starfield, I highly recommend Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café!
