If you go to Haenggung-dong in Suwon, there's one hotspot you absolutely have to stop by — Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters. I always felt a bit sad having to travel all the way to Suwon for it, so when I heard they'd opened a branch at Lotte Department Store Nowon, I rushed over. It's in a perfect spot to stop by before or after shopping, and with that unmistakable Haenggung-dong vibe layered on top, it's already becoming a hot café among Nowon locals!!

1. Signature coconut latte

This is the number one menu item you must try if you come to Jeong Ji-young Coffee. The sweet, nutty coconut flavor blends with a deep espresso shot, giving off a smooth flavor that isn't overly sweet.

2. Black sesame latte

Topped generously with nutty black sesame cream, this one's a direct hit for anyone with a 'grandma palate.' The balance between the bitter coffee and the nutty cream is excellent.

3. Basic Americano & drip coffee

True to a roastery brand, the natural flavor of the beans really shines. The balance of acidity and nuttiness makes it a crowd-pleasing coffee with no real downsides.

Detailed tasting notes by drink

Coconut latte (signature drink)

Visual & first impression: A sweet, nutty coconut aroma drifts up pleasantly the moment it's set down in the cup.

Taste in detail: The first sip brings the smooth, rich sweetness unique to coconut coating the tip of your tongue, followed by the deep bitterness of strong espresso holding it all together.

Verdict: This isn't the usual artificial coconut syrup taste you find elsewhere — the bean's natural flavor and coconut's nuttiness blend together without going overboard. The balance between sweet and bitter is so perfect you never get tired of it, making it the clear number one recommendation.

☕ 2. Black sesame latte

Visual & first impression: A thick, dense layer of black sesame cream sits heavily atop a dark espresso layer.

Taste in detail: Drinking straight from the cup without a straw, you first feel the rich thickness of the cold black sesame cream. Nuttiness spreads across your whole mouth, and then the warm, deep coffee comes through the cream, delivering ultimate smoothness.

Verdict: This one's a direct hit for the 'grandma palate' crowd who love black sesame and grain-based flavors. Because the cream is so thick, the nutty flavor holds all the way to the last sip without ever going watery — a big plus.

☕ 3. Flat white / Americano (the bean's true flavor)

Visual & first impression: The deep crema stands out, and true to a roastery café, the coffee's natural aroma rises up heavily.

Taste in detail: The first taste is strongly nutty, with a mild, unobtrusive acidity and sweetness coming through at the finish. When mixed with steamed milk, it lifts the milk's nuttiness even further.

Verdict: The bean's roast level is excellent, with no bitterness or burnt taste whatsoever. It's a textbook-perfect cup of coffee, ideal for pairing with sweet desserts or bakery items.
