Jeju café for four-flavor oranda gifts: Cheongchuni Oranda

I stopped by Dongmun Market this time and picked up a gift set at Cheongchuni Oranda, and it was a total success.

I bought the set with four flavors—gamtae, nut, yuja, and manong—and honestly, every single one was delicious. If you are wondering what souvenir to get at Dongmun Market, read through to the end!

Cheongchuni Oranda location and hours

Cheongchuni Oranda (청춘이오란다) Dongmun Market Main Branch, Tapdong is on the first floor at 6-8 Dongmun-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju. You can find it right away by entering Jeju Dongmun Market through Gate 2 or Gate 9.

Hours are 09:00 to 20:00 every day. For parking, Dongmun Public Parking Lot is a convenient three-minute walk away. The first 30 minutes are free, with charges after that, so keep that in mind.

By the way, Dongmun Market has so much to see and taste, so it is worth having a look around while you are there!!

Oranda gift set menu and price

Oranda, a crunchy yet chewy puffed-rice snack, is naturally the signature item here. I chose the oranda gift set (₩23,000) because it seemed easy to carry and eat.

I bought the gift set with all four flavors—gamtae, nut, yuja, and manong—in one box. I love that it includes everything, so you can choose whichever one you feel like eating. As in the photo above, you can also buy them individually.

They also have donut oranda and white-rice gwajul (traditional fried rice snack), though I heard the prices vary from time to time. Samples are available too, and the owner lets you taste each one, so there is almost no chance of picking a dud.

How were the four oranda flavors different?

I opened the gift set and tried them one by one, and all four flavors were clearly different.

Manong (garlic) flavor

The manong (garlic) flavor has a garlic-baguette kind of feel, with Korean garlic butter and parsley in it. It is the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for another.

Yuja flavor

The yuja flavor has such a bright, fresh aroma that it was perfect for cleansing my palate between sweet bites.

Nut flavor

The nut flavor is deeply nutty with a satisfying bite, so I think it would be especially great for anyone who loves snack foods.

Gamtae flavor

The gamtae (sweet seaweed) flavor has a lightly salty taste that feels like the Jeju sea, so I recommend it if you love that sweet-and-salty combination.

The texture is crisp and chewy at the same time, then turns soft as you chew—a three-step texture that had me constantly reaching back into the box.

It is less sweet than mass-produced versions, so it is an easy choice both as a snack for kids and as a gift for parents.

Tips for samples and shipping

Since samples are available, just casually tell the owner which ones you would like to try and they will explain them one by one. Shipping is also available with purchases over ₩50,000, so that is a good option if your travel bag is getting heavy.

It was nice to stop in when I got peckish while looking around Dongmun Market—the samples alone were filling, and the price felt easy enough for gifts too.
