Seogwipo Korean BBQ marinated pork neck: Donsahyang
In short
Donsahyang Olle Market Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Olle Market in Seogwipo, Jeju. We booked ahead for marinated black pork neck, pork skin, LA galbi, and seafood doenjang jjigae, with its Jeju Daejeong garlic olive-oil sauce stealing the show. Verdict: a must-save spot for my next Jeju trip.

This is a great spot for marinated black pork near Olle Market in Seogwipo, Jeju. I ate so, so well that I absolutely want to put it on my must-eat list for the next trip. Usually I only eat unseasoned meat, but at Donsahyang it came marinated, so it almost tasted like galbi! The meat was incredibly tender and thick too, haha. The garlic marinade had really soaked in, making this one of the restaurants I remembered most from this trip. It was close to our accommodation since it is near Olle Market, which was lovely.

Donsahyang Olle Market Main Branch location and parking
The address is 20 Cheonji-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea, at Donsahyang Olle Market Main Branch. You can use the street parking around the restaurant for free, though the nearby public parking lot is about a five-minute walk away. I recommend walking!
Hours are 17:30–23:00, Monday through Sunday, and it is regularly closed on the second Tuesday of every month. Booking through Naver ahead of time is convenient because they prepare everything for you!

The table set in advance after our reservation
We had reserved beforehand, so the owner had set our table up so neatly! The banchan (Korean side dishes) included dried radish strips, kimchi, pickles, and more. There was also sesame oil sauce, salt, barley doenjang (soybean paste), wasabi, and ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), so we could eat however we liked.

They also bring a soy sauce with chili peppers in it, and it was insanely good with the marinated meat!! Even the little side plates were cute... hehe.

The self-service bar was kept so neat too, right? They had even arranged the ssam vegetables so thoughtfully!!

How to eat the marinated meat deliciously
They had even made a handy guide for enjoying Donsahyang properly!! You should put the meat on once the grill is nice and hot. For the first bite, try just the meat by itself. The juices burst out—seriously, I mean it. For the third bite, it is even tastier with the standard side dishes.
For the fourth, dip it in a sauce—there are several, so choose whatever you like. The sauces they put on the grill while cooking made me gasp on their own! My particular favorite was the Jeju Daejeong garlic in olive oil. Dipping a generous piece of meat into that? You cannot help but swoon. An absolute must. My partner said the cream sauce was totally their style! Just eat to your taste!!

From marinated pork neck to side dishes
It looks like their signature main is Doldol Maneongsal. But we picked the marinated pork neck! They also had LA galbi, juicy Jeju whole pork jowl, black pork five-layer belly, and an Arangjoeul Set? For around four people, the set seemed like a pretty good value too!
For sides, there were Jeju honeycomb black pork skin, Cheogatjip sundubu, Jeju seafood doenjang jjigae, Jeju seafood hangover ramen, naengmyeon (cold noodles), cheese kimchi fried rice, and extra traditional sundae (Korean blood sausage)!!

There are so many items on the menu, right? Seriously, an enormous selection. But it was all so delicious!!!! They even had wine? It was great that we could choose drinks to our own tastes too.
We discovered something on this trip... I normally only drink Chamisul, but this trip helped me find my drink for life: Hallasan Mild!! I went straight for soju, while my beer-loving partner started gulping down beer. Why? Draft beer was ₩2,900! DRAFT beer, can you believe it??? I had to save room for meat, so soju it is. Hehe.

Isn't that flame crazy? The heat was intense the moment we walked in.

And the steamed egg ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It was so delicious. So soft and fluffy!!! I think it comes as a complimentary basic side!!

Juicy marinated pork neck and LA galbi
The grilled pork neck we ordered!! Since it was pork neck, I thought the lean meat might be dry, but absolutely not!!!! The juices were unreal ㅠㅠㅠ And the marinade seemed so, so well made too ㅠㅠ I was hungry enough to bury my face in it and eat!!!!!! Seriously. You can see how the meat looked, right?? The grill was completely covered... I was shocked by the amount.

The black pork heading into our bellies hahaha. We diligently grilled mushrooms and shishito peppers too! After filling up on pork, it was time for beef. I was unsure about LA galbi, but one bite totally shocked me!!!!! You really have to try this. Highly, highly recommended, absolutely... because once you dip it in the sauce, it is pure bliss!!!!!! You arrive in heaven too... It was so good I could faint ㅠㅠ Why is there nowhere like this in Daegu? It is so delicious... Please open a branch in Daegu too, that is my wish...
You see the sauce I mentioned, right? At first I thought, what is that? Maybe just garlic sauce? But it was olive oil packed with Jeju garlic!! I truly fell for it... it moved me. How enthusiastically did I eat it, you ask... I practically dunked every single piece of meat in it. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered pork skin too. The owner brought over a press and told us it turns out better if you press it down firmly while grilling!

The pork skin was so nutty too—everything here was delicious. When we arrived, it was almost right after opening and there were about four groups, but as dinner time came, quite a lot more customers arrived. There were lots of older gentlemen too. I think it might be a local favorite!

My younger cousin is actually a Jeju local too... and apparently they had left a signature there? Hahaha. It was so funny that I video-called them right away to show them, and they said they had been there, haha. Such a silly joke. Whoever you are, I enjoyed seeing the signature, haha. My mouth was very happy too. My partner and I left promising each other that we absolutely had to come back here next time we visit Jeju, saying it was such a great restaurant. Donsahyang, seriously ㅠ It is such a shame there is no Daegu location. This was a flavor I truly fell for.

Spicy seafood doenjang jjigae to finish
We also ordered doenjjang jjigae for something with a spicy kick! We scraped the bowl completely clean... little piggies hahaha. Can you see my partner? Peeling a shrimp and telling me to try it. Seriously, what a sweet shrimp! That is how sweet my partner is, haha.
My partner does not usually like doenjang jjigae, but this one had seafood in it, so it was practically seafood stew. It was so refreshing, spicy, and delicious!! It really felt like every single dish at this restaurant had been made with care. Next time, I would like to try some of the other menu items too.

My partner handled the bill... the person who always manages the money when we travel, thank you. It really was paid for with our own money^^ We even had yogurt for dessert before leaving!! This felt like such a nice Korean BBQ restaurant for dinner or a date, and it is absolutely the kind of delicious find I would mark with a star and save on my list.
